Ross had to leave early, and I somehow ended up driving his rig back to Louisiana for him.

Roughly 22 hours and close to 2,000 miles.

The new 2uz in his 60 loved going 80 all day long. Fun motor for sure, I really enjoyed it.

No cruise control, but I had cruise control.

I got to go see the sights with Ross. Went on a super neat airboat tour though the achaflaya basin.

Some of you may be curious about the new LC250 in the group.

My mom has been wanting a new car for a while, and wantes something for some light wheeling trips as well.

So, I found her a first edition LC250 with 1000 miles. Drove out to AZ to get it and back in a day and a half.

Not sure if I recommend that drive, but the 250 is a super fun driver, and it does surprisingly well in the rocks as a stock vehicle.

Lol. I've never had an issue with those and axle straps, but a nice set with the wrap for the axle integrated would be nice.

There never a issue until they are

I use axle straps but the ratchet straps have closed ends so there no way they can come off accidentally.
I check my straps at every stop I can’t tell you how many times I have found them lose.
Especially with Big elevation changes.

Mac’s straps are great made in the US and not much more the Chineseium stuff.

Got it. Now I understand what Richard is saying.

I don't own any, but I also don't own anything where that safety on the hook can actually engage. My trailer doesn't have D-rings

It is wild how poorly some of these do at elevation.
Also wild how grossed out some people are by it.

I'd much rather follow around my rig at elevation than most if the stock 40's running crazy rich

To be fair, most flat bed semi stuff, there are no hooks either. 4" Ratchets welded to the rail on both sides with a big ass cheater bar.

The big difference is a vehicle is sitting on tires the air pressure changes with temperature and elevation changes.
With a static load this is not a issue.
When I hauling lumber I use standard ratchet with confidence.

I really like these,besides the safety aspect there super convenient. You clip one end on then go to the other end and the first end is still on

There spring loaded and clip on to a D ring with one hand. Simple push with a thumb to release Soooo convenient !

I like them so much I started use them for regular loads. Same idea just smaller.

Carl Mac's tie downs Tie Down Straps - https://www.macscustomtiedowns.com/straps/c/100/ also makes D rings that drop into stake pockets on trailer and flat beds no welding required.

They also make fixed length straps ( I use them ) there great for the front. Just figure the length you need they make them custom at no extra charge.
Then when you are loading you rig will always be in the right spot on the trailer. Again it's super convenient and fast.
And yes I have a second set of ratchet straps in case I need to load a different rig.

For me it's all about safety & convenience
