A few months ago I read a post on here about changing out the original FJ40's transfer case's shift knob for an FJ60 model. I liked the idea, so purchased the FJ60 knob. But the knob doesn't fit directly onto the FJ40's lever, so I had to purchase a brass shift knob reducer/adapter, M12X1.25 OD M8X1.25 ID.

Yes. Love that knob. It’s in all my trucks because I run split cases in the 40
And 55.

Took 1/2 day off to mess around with my 40. The plastic accelerator torque rod bushing gave itself up many moons ago, but I didn’t figure it out till a few days ago. So, MUD to the rescue. Found a post where someone mentioned the door hinge bushings are the same size. Just my luck, I have a few of the brass ones from @SouthBostonFJ40 ....with a little dremel work, the linkage works mo better now.

What a coincidence! I just dropped that link into my bucket of carb cleaner today to clean it up. Now I know there's supposed to be a bushing on it - thanks!

I have read this thread from start to finish. I am amazed at the detail and quality of work on your 40. Having just purchased a 78 that needs quite a bit of work your thread has me pumped up to get into it while reminding me that I need to take my time, be patient and enjoy the ride.

If you don't have one already, I'd recommend installing the hand throttle to go along with the accelerator pedal you have there.

Just waiting for a friend to send me the firewall bracket so I can make my own.

Where did you source the fuel pump block-off plate?

I stumbled across this Toyota block-off plate by accident. It is actually a 3FE's block off plate, from an FJ62. The shoulders on the block-off plate means I can reuse the OEM bolts.

I'm still questioning that reason!!!!! My OEM carb is running so well these days, but....

However, there is a very good reason, and that will come at a later date.
