Damn more food for thought. I was working on piecing together my own lift kit for 1967 FJ40 but after reading everything here I’m really tempted to pick up this kit!!

Only question I have, should I get the kit without the shocks and run IMS or stick with the yellows in the kit? Sounds like the ones in the kits are great too!!

Thanks

It’s a slow going project but I am getting there. One corner per day. For me, it’s hard to get into the positions under the truck and then discover my 17mm socket is over there and out of reach. That’s All on me, the job is quite easy to do and everything is dropping into place. I have the right rear side to remove and finish then add the steering stabilizer. Got a call into @orangefj45 on the stabilizer… that man is devoted

The quality of all of the parts is quite remarkable an ease of install from 1-5 is a 2…fairly easy and everything is there. if you’re younger and stronger…thank God for extra floor jacks. The rear u-bolts have proven to be too much for my 175psi compressor and 1/2” impact gun. I run it at 95psi but cranked it up for these….nothing. Cut-off wheels worked

The compressed shock makes it easy to install.. I doubt I’d be able to compress it had I cut the bandView attachment 3992588
1) I have found that impacts often struggle with U-bolts because the long bolt absorbs too much of the twist... often a ratchet and a cheater bar are needed.

2) I have determined that all impacts are not created equal. I thought my compressor wasn't adequate because my Craftsman, Campbell Hausfeld, and Husky 1/2 drive impacts wouldn't break a lug nut loose... even after getting a good compressor, they still fell short. Now, my Snap-on impact spins them all off, even with my smallest 2.5 gallon hot dog compressor, and the compressor hardly runs.

I’ve found my cordless M18 stuff’s performance depends on what size battery I have in it.

Also I've added some to a short 70. Link about 6 posts up.
I read it thanks for sharing. How long did you have them now ? And was there any sagging after a while? Doing my homework before the shopping :)

I tried my 1/2” impact…nothing, the M12 3/8 impact, nothing, 1/2 drive with breaker bar…nothing. Placed my foot on the tire while really pulling with a 12” cheater on the breaker bar on my back under the truck …nothing and had soaked them with Kroil 2 days before

When they do get through the cut…the “POP’ was startling

No sagging issues

I cut old and stk U bolts. They're not worth messing with and they shouldn't be reused anyway. I rarely use the supplied hardware that comes with aftermarket suspension kits, instead i go to the local spring shop and get proper hardware.

I managed to get to the ripe age of 58 wrenching on trucks without getting a hernia. Trying to undo a Ubolt was my demise. Never again; cut every time.

It’s that “POP” when it breaks that makes me jump! Plus I have lost so much strength it is laughable. Welding a frame support for 1 seat took 3 days, installing it took another 3. Lifting the entire seat in and out a dozen times…damn

If anyone was going to resist buying a set of springs …it has to be me.. I’d already dropped $10,000 into my truck…it needs A/C for me to drive it these days in summer and I’m going to spend X dollars for springs?

Now that they’re in….i CANNOT believe what a difference there is. Like the disc brake addition…remarkable. They don’t smack into a bump or hole, they do a much better job of absorbing much of that shift in impacts…anyone thinking along these lines, I am not a compensated spokesperson but…they really are the best improvement I have made in any suspension over 51 years
