When I drain the t-case, will this also drain the transmission? I'm draining the t-case to repair the parking brake. I want to make sure when I drain the t-case and refill, I don't have to worry about refilling the transmission as well.

each case has it's own fill and drain......MAKE SURE THE FILL IS LOOSE BEFORE DRAINING

Why not do them both while your under there?

agreed while your getting dirty take 2 extra minutes and do them both

It will not drain the transmission.

Good to go.

YES! Thank you!

Good point, it would be horrible to be stuck with no t-case fluid!

While you have the smell of gear oil on you, might has well do the axles also. 5 gallon pail will give you plenty of oil.

Oh gosh...the list gets longer and longer!!

Go ahead and invest in a 5 gallon bucket gear oil pump. I got mine for about $50 at Napa. Fooling with the cheapie 1 gallon bottle pumps sucks.

Makes changing gear oil a lot less messy and gear oil is usually available cheapest retail in 5 gallon buckets. I've been able to find $22 5 gallon buckets in rural areas.

This one is available for $25 from Northern Tool. Looks like the same unit I have.

I built a pressure pot out of a propane tank, I fill it with oil, pressurize it to 25 psi, and with the flick of a ball valve, can fill both diffs, my tranny amd the transfer case in less than 20 minutes total..and no arm pumping....

Damn good idea!

I was given an electric pump that is perfect for gear oil, but the pressure pot idea is a much more elegant solution.

On the lookout for an old propane tank now. :D

Thanks for the heads up, guess I'm taking a trip to Northern Tool this weekend.

Not sure I'm slick enough to put together a pressure pot set-up....yet!

I'll put a post up about the presure pot in the tools section, it is simple to make, only needs one weld, ans works super slick, like I said, 20 minutes to fill all four...
