Thread size and pitch. 1978 transfer case DRAIN

Anyone know the thread size and pitch of the TCase drain hole? Not the socket size.

IIRC - 18 x 1.5mm, somewhere there is a thread regarding customizing a reg tap or if you have, can get a bottom tap, the gear isn't very far in there at all if your doing it on the truck.

I recommend using a bottoming tap or a plug tap and if you can get a magnetic drain plug to collect shavings.

I bet the gears are steel. On helicopter's they had chip indicators, when the steel chips bridged the magnets, the light came on and you need to look for a place to land now.

Yes it's M18x1.5.
The repair kit i used tapped it to m20x1.5 and then helicoil back to m18.

Be careful aligning your tap.
