On my old chevy I had a piston from the rebuild on my trany shifter and one from a briggs on the t case shifter. It got a lot of peoples attention.

Hate to change the subject a little bit. Just rolled back into the states and looking at land cruisers in the US no wonder we feel so slighted and work so hard to create a good powerful diesel truck. Every cruiser I saw in Ireland was diesel. Old ones and new ones!

Even the newer pickups (Hilux) was getting tricked out.

Just makes me sad and mad here.

I just got back from Ireland also. Saw a ton of Prados, Hilux, some 100s, etc. Most vehicles in Europe are diesel because it's cheaper and usually gets better mileage (especially the trucks). The gas models are usually small displacement or hybrids. When I was there diesel was 1.45 Euro per litre and petrol (gasoline) was 1.55 Euro per litre. That's about $7.80 for gas and about $7.30 for diesel. Because of the regulations and culture in the US, we're much more suited to gas vehicles.

Sorry to jump in on the hijack. Lets see some pics and vids of that truck!

Yep, let's get back on topic. Things must be real busy Stevo. We haven't seen any updates lately. Are you Driving and having too much fun now to post us some video? I am beginning the process of adding AC to my 5.9 mostly just plumbing but might take a little time. Can't do without AC for too long down here.

I have never been busier in my entire life.
But I have been able to drive the cruiser around a bit. I will be posting up a couple videos to youtube soon so check them out.

I ripped a reservoir hose off of the passenger side front shock so I need to repair that before any other wheeling is done.

Truck is an absolute beast to drive, once the turbo is lit there really isn't anything keeping me from turning those tires. :D

Super cool! Lot of fun to be had yet, huh.

Thing's a BEAST!
I feel like hollering just like your bud who is filming when it plows through that mud hole, well done Stevo!

Oh for sure. :) I'm just starting to test it out.

Its so much better in person or in the truck, videos don't do it justice.

Badass :D

Get that GoPro off the dash and mount it on the side of the truck!!

I am gonna put a mount on the side of it. But that camera is gonna get coated in mud :D you won't be able to see anything.

An under the truck mount is gonna be next too.

I might be able to make the august trip.

That would be awesome, to test the truck out some more. Hopefully I can find a buddy to make the trip out with.

Work is still way too busy, and no progress yet on the cruiser. Still to be completed are:

Breathers
Shock Repair
Rear Bumper
Front Receiver
Winch Wiring
New Seats
Rollcage
Airbox/Snorkel
Front Springs

Probably a few more things I would like to do in the future too.

Does anyone know a good shock repair shop in Jersey? I haven't been able to locate one on the internet.

It has been a crazy month and a lot is going on.
I am going to be moving to Costa Rica on the 31st of the month so the cruiser will be on hold for a while.

Other than that no real updates on the cruiser except I might have blown up the front axle, I still need to check that out when I get the time.
I also sold the 43's to get some extra money. For the Meantime I have those 37" military tires to run. I also did put new front shocks on to replace the ones I tore the hoses off of.
I was hoping to bring the cruiser down to CR with me however there are some crazy import taxes on older vehicles and I don't want to end up paying 80% of their assessed value of it to register it.
I will probably end up buying either a FJ/BJ40 or Samurai to drive around down there.

I never thought I would say this about the truck, but, depending on how things go down in CR I might put it up for sale.

Stevo-----this is actually pretty cool that you'll be living in Costa! I went last year for 10 days and LOVED it... only on the eastern side and then central country area.... on the FJ60 brainstorming for what you'll end up doing with it: you know, I've always found life lived best isn't about our *stuff*-------things come and go into a Life for reasons that often don't clarify until much later in time. Projects, people, destinations, problems overcome .... they're all ingredients that steep through late night thinking and hard days toiling through the loops we must close. Close, to move on to the next step. I've always liked the idea that "circumstances do not make the man, they reveal him...to himself" (James Allen?)

I've learned that things in my life have meaning only within the context of my particular life's circumstances and my outlooks as they've matured up until that point.

Anyway, this is a great Road you are going down so I toast a great one to the discoveries you'll no doubt make about people, places, circumstances....and above all, yourself. Alot of people seem to associate the Landcruiser not just with the rig but with the *lifestyle*. Perhaps you could also add to that its a stage to reach or a train stop to visit. If you sell, well hey.... you had a great visit and learned some things and been changed in ways no doubt will make richer whatever you do out there in Costa Rica. If you find a road to get it into CR by way of say Panama.... hey, there's probably some wonderful lessons there. LOL----and, probably on both sides of the ledger: the +'s and the -'s.

Okay, I'll get off my soapbox ;o)

Booooooooo.

I hope you enjoy CR!

Hey thanks man, I know it seems sorta lame to finish up the truck and then move but its not sold yet. And who knows it might make it down there.

Wait what? How long you going for?

As of right now it is looking like for at least a few years. It will be nice not to have to work constantly and to just enjoy life for a while.

Bring it to Panamá then drive it up to CR ;)

I never thought about that. Can I drive a vehicle that is registered to panama in Costa Rica and have it insured? I will have to talk to you/ learn more about panama's regulations and laws.

Rasta, Its always great hearing from you, and there is still much hard thinking to be done before the truck goes up for sale if it does.

I Really appreciate all of the comments that I have gotten from everyone over the course of the build and don't know what point I would be at without the help.
This site is definitely a valuable resource and no matter what I will always strive to be helpful to others.
With things changing so rapidly in my life I'm not 100% on how everything will turn out, I just hope for the best and know I will always have family and friends up in the states.

Good luck with whatever you decide Stevo!
