Looks like we have a lot of first time attenders.

This is great! Please ask any questions

Hey Zack, did you get your filler neck fixed?

Yup, I had a corroded-shut vent line. All sorted now. You get that tire mount sorted?

Please ask any questions

.....😐

But then everyone will know I'm retarded.

You asked.

-Following distance. What is proper etiquette?

-What channels are used for coms? Is there a specific emergency channel?

-What are the tech inspection requirements?

-Animal concerns? Bear, big cats, middle aged divorced women?

-How much time on trail can be expected each day?

-Any specific tools outside of a small/basic tool kit are a must I haven't thought of?

-Average temperatures? I'm assuming cold as frig above the tree line, but what about in the valley?

-Flats much of an issue? I've got a bunch of spares, but am only planning on bringing the one.

-Tire pressure without bead locks?

I'll throw a few answers your way. Following distance is close enough to keep pace without crowding leader or opposing traffic. Remember some of our old Cruisers have three pedals and will roll a backwards on steep trails.

If you choose to go on a trail with one of our seasoned trail leader, they will specify a channel for the day.

Please go over your vehicle prior to coming. Brakes, steering, tires anything that can be checked or serviced ahead of hitting the trails. Please have a fire extinguisher in your vehicle. Basic tools, tow strap, shakles and know how to use them.

You can expect black bears in or near camp. Moose, deer, raccoons, marmots are all in the area. Common bear aware practices will serve you well.

You can expect a few hours to a full day on the trails. Most will include a stop in Telluride, Silverton, Ridgeway or Ouray. Pack a cooler with drinks, water, sandwiches and snacks.

Expect anything from high altitude intense sunlight in the 80s to rain, sleet, snow with high winds in the backcountry. A decent rain jacket and layers are your friend here.

If your tires are in good condition you should be fine, have a good spare though and or a plug kit with a small compressor.

We will have coffee and a gathering each morning before heading out, either as groups or on your own. Planning on having a basic Cruiser 101 on Monday morning for those that have questions. Most of us veteran wheelers are happy to share things learned over the years. Much easier to do in person with your vehicle.

Being the control freak/overly excited/OCD/control freak/Alcoholic that I am....

I made a Google Sheet template for keeping things organized between my buddy.

HERE

You should be able to save it yourself, then you can share it with who ever is in your group.

There's tabs for Tow Vehicle, Trail Vehicle, Campsite, Food Items, Groceries, and Miscellaneous.

Another first timer here... Planning on making it but the campground is full, which absolutely takes the fun out of being part of the group shenanigans.

Does anyone have extra room or sites they would share? It would be myself and possibly family member in my roof top tent 80 series.

Additionally, for us that didn't get a site, would anyone have any suggestions to alternative places to camp close by? maybe we could get a group together...

Lol just follow me Karl @sogncab

Didn’t that happen a few years ago above the wall. I was trail leader and it looks very familiar.

Correct, something about missing shocks, overinflated tires and failure to follow your spotters instructions comes to mind.
Lessons learned the hard way for sure..
