Something could have gotten picked up in the gas tank side. Remove the inlet to the fuel pump and blow compressed air backward toward the tank to clear it out. With fuel cap removed, you'll hear the air bubbles in the tank while doing it

No flag needed to drive on beach and camp. We have had people in the past come out to camp and ride along with others.

To clarify even further, not that anyone here would probably do this but you can still drive on the beach and even camp without the flag. It's needed when you go out into the dunes themselves
