Mohawk solo 14. Love this boat and wish this company (and royalex/royalite) were still around. Only issue is the low side wall in this type of water, and will occasionally pull out the Odyssey for the heavier whitewater. Cant beat the durability and light weight combo of the Solo, though

Meyers licensed those designs from Canadian Sportspal and sells them under Sportspal brand in US. CA Sportspal is sold as Radisson here in the States.

Yours is built with thinner, but more flexible and forgiving aluminum. Mine is quite a bit heavier at 57 lbs. It held up pretty well on choppy northern water, though. I wish I got a bigger one, since I need about twice as much cargo for 7-10 days on the water :)

Looking at used Grumman canoe on craigslist, I see a lot of them damaged and patched, or sold "as is", for repair. Especially the newer and lighter ones (Eagle?). Real old ones (late 40s, early 50s) are gone quickly - are they that better?

I want a bigger canoe, but durability is the main concern... My Mayers Sportspal survived about 18 hours of this with no problem:

Partially thanks to 25 ribs, which adds to rigidity quite a bit. It is also made of 6010 heat treated aluminum alloy that was typical for mountain bike frames about 20 years ago.

Do packrafts count?

My Alpacka Mule, 2021ish model.

Absolutely! The picture is awesome!

How long does this raft last? I got tired patching my 4-seater PVC boat after about 3 or 4 seasons. It was also quite a bit heavier, on par with my current canoe.

Mine is 4 years old now and still looks like new, the only hole in it came from a errant cast with a large fly. I've bashed it through trees down in the water, random logjams, and sharp edges if rock walls in canyons, all without any damage so far. A few of the rental rafts my buddies have used were pretty banged up but still were fully functional with no leaks.

Sub 7lbs and able to roll up the size of a 2 man tent makes it nice to do some cool backcountry stuff.

Made a mental note. My canoe can be dragged for a bit, but not too far. Exploring mixed terrain would be certainly easier with a 7lbs floating rig. Well, perhaps 10+, with paddle, compressor and repair kit.

I'm at 10lbs with raft, paddle, and pfd.

Makes for an easy trek into remote places.

@rkymtnflyfisher - I haven't seen a setup like that previously. I bet that would be the ticket to reach into some of thosse remote lakes. I'm gonna add that to my wishlist for out west!

Sub 10 pounds is darn appealing.

They're pretty legit. Some places are renting them pretty frequently nowadays, something like $25 a day, it's an easy way to get hooked.
