This is my dream build and I get to use my Brother in Laws money to make it happen. I bought a 62 and he became jealous, so I help him buy a '60 from @timmbuck2

The plan is to take the driven train from a donor HJ61, fully rebuilt and swap it into the FJ60.

(By the way my BIL is possible the worst photographer in the world, my sister will attest to this)

The donor:

Picked up this ’85 FJ60 for my Brother in Law. He wanted a solid daily driver he could take out on 5 day wheeling trip and not worry about being stranded.

Right off we upgraded the suspension to a 2.5 inch ironman lift with foam cells and heavy duty springs as we are planning to install a long range fuel tank and 12H-T.

Bought some rough country rims and went with some Roughcountry Steelies 17 inch rims spec’d for an FJ Cruiser, but fit the 60 perfect. New Falken Rubitrek A/T P285 70R17 or 33 inch tires for those who still can’t wrap their heads around the ratio thing… Load Rating E for the full floater.

The build plan is full rebuild of the entire drive train. Truck came with about 500km on the clock.

Engine is being built to 20 PSI of boost with modification to the injector pump and aftermarket turbo.

H55 is being rebuilt with modified syncro's for cleaner shifting. Splitcase rebuilt. Front and rear lockers came with eaton e-lockers. Had third memebers rebuilt. Axle housings powder coated.

The HJ61 will be back together by June 5th and road tested through the 14th.... Then load it on a boat and bring it over to Seattle. I pick it up and drive it out to Kellogg, ID. From there the plan is a week of thrashing to swap drive trains, electrical systems and other bits....

What are your plans for the rest of the red HJ61 once the motor/trans etc. are pulled?

Nice parts list. You might want to consider converting the transfer case to the manual linkage so you can re-use the shifter handle from the original 60. That will be a lot easier for you

At this time the plan is to sell.
Right on, looks like a fun project! I have a RHD HJ60 that I could use quite a few things from that bad boy that are hard to find in the states, haha.

man i wonder which is harder. Drive train swap or swapping the dash and steering and front axle steering bits over to make the HJ LHD haha

Looks like its going to be an awesome project!

Tan is the best color! Also that overhead console in the 61 is SWEET! I'd love one of those.

Looking forward to the build. Looks like it's off to a good start! Curious what the landed cost of that transfer tank is to the US...

Thank you. Great Catch!!!! And this is why I'm importing a fully functioning vehicle. While it won't address the issue you've called out, I'm sure in doing a swap their will be bits and pieces I need off the donor rig I hadn't thought of....

Firewall would probably be the hardest part! I like the RHD though, got used to it quick, and it gets a lot of attention if you like that sorta thing.
