I like to use ratchet straps for that job much easier on painted surfaces 🤷‍♂️
Much more likely to smash your teeth out, too =)

What is Delta doing with the 4”? I’ve got a set of 4” and have thought about swapping to 5L’s.
Not sure. I think I'm a unique case. I had to swap out to heavier springs to support the weight I attached to the truck and a a result my caster numbers were a bit off, hence the change to 5Ls.

How much actual lift are you guys running? @Feldrian @Carey322 Are you both at just the right spot where the 4" arms are a degree off or some weird crap like that?
If I go to a higher lift, it's all of this component swapping I would love to avoid.
Exactly. I was about 1.2 degrees under desired caster range. I think I net about 5" of lift over stock.

@Carey322 Thanks. I can say pretty definitively that I will not put my rig on 40's. Here's one odd thing I found. I was trying to do some more spring research, so I was looking through the Tough Dog website. I placed all of the vehicle info into the required bars, and since I am thinking 4" lift, I also selected that. The springs for my selected application came back as 2" springs. I thought that was a bit strange.
Sorry @Feldrian for the slight derail.
No biggie. I'm not a stickler about sanitized build threads. That's a @Broski thing. :flipoff2:

Pretty sure I'd make the worst Mod ever.

Seen plenty of old ratchet straps let go. I've suspended a ton off the ceiling with the chain comealong and happily worked under it.

Maybe we have different "adventure thresholds"

It looked like you we’re aligning bushings, not suspending a ton from the ceiling. 😉
The chain hoist is definitely better suited for that job.
I didn’t make it to my ripe old age working stupid. 🤪

I like my chain comealong so much i use it for more than one thing 😍

I'm actually not sure how I've lived this long. I've done a lot of stupid s***.

Speaking of that.

Out landing gear guys were putting a 777 on jacks. And had to strap the nose gear because it was being replaced. The strap let go. It was so ****ing loud.

Since I completely forgot to post this here for posterity - I couldn't help myself and I have now become a member of the "OMG, I have more than one 80" club. On the upside, I don't think this one will be boiling fuel any time soon. Huge props to @NCTrey133 for this amazing build. And most importantly, it's a Lexus ... Because PINKIES OUT, BITCHES!

Lexus isn’t really a Land Cruiser 👀🥊

But that’s a seriously nice build. Congrats. Now you just need another $100k for a tow rig and trailer…
And another 200k for a shop. 😜

Got all of the fuel cooler pieces put together and ready to install. Looks like the new bracket for the filter regulator will package nicely next to the brake booster. Unfortunately didn't get the fan mount/ skid plate installed. Turns out I need a right angle drill to resize the holes in the frame for rivnuts.

Unfortunately found two unpleasant surprises under the truck while I was crawling around yesterday - Another oil leak on the oil pressure sender and a coolant leak. I typically wash the engine bay after wheeling trips, but didn't the last time out - Don't think I'd have noticed the coolant leak if I'd washed the engine bay. Looks like telltale pink streaks coming out of the back of the water pump under the heater hoses.

From a conversation about my abysmal crawl ratio today -

Current build:
Torque converter ratio x 1st gear x TC low range x axle ratio
1.8 x 4.56 x 2.488 x 4.56 = 93.12

In 8th gear:
1.8 x 0.65 x 2.488 x 4.56 = 13.27 (which is probably why I can do 30 MPH in low range and where the convo came from)

Compared that to the new rig:
Torque converter ratio x 1st gear x TC low range x doubler x axle ratio
1.8 x 2.804 x 3.12 x 2.7 x 5.29 = 224.91

I may have to learn to drive differently. 🤔

The new rig will drive for you. No need for a gas pedal.
My old dual cased Toyota crawler had a fear ratio like that. STUPID low and awesome! Couldn't get out of its own way though.
