I dragged this thing out to drain the gas tank. Turns out it was already empty.

Cowboy liked.

Well s***. I added fluid and all 4 drivers side freeze plugs are leaking.

New motor build by a local shop. LS type guys. Made in USA stamped on them.

I'm going to try to smack them in the center and see if they stop. (Edit, that did not work)

Open to ideas here.

I'd be afraid of every one of them throughout the engine.

Yeah it's coming out.

The one above the bellhousing is leaking too. Any chance of repairing in the truck went out the window.

Sure am sick for Sam. This is a real kick in the nuts for the owner.

That shop should cover your labor for the R&R.
They probably won't...

+1 I'd worry about the oil plugs too. Who ever installed them should have known they weren't fitting correctly. Then you wonder about how they stuck the rings on whilly nilly or the correct orientation.

I've seen this issue before where the 350 builder got the freeze plugs wrong and the engine was fine. I'll fix it. Starting tomorrow.

On a serious note when you speak to them tell them you want the spec sheet on what they did. I will bet there are other issues of things like that are wrong.

You think a small town engine builder that specializes in LS motors kept a spreadsheet on a 2F they built 3 years ago?

Mud is a funny place.

Maybe there is a way to connect a cooling system pressure tester directly to the block and head?

edit: I'm thinking about a couple of Schrader valves for car wheels can be installed in a plate, akin to the thickness of a wheel, and that plate gets bolted on to the front of the engine. Then you'll have a means to pressurize it, and a thread-on pressure gauge to watch for pressure loss.

I once needed a 16mm cup type plug that Toyota does not service. I ended up using an "oversize" 5/8 plug. That solved my problem.
