Curious how you remove dthe old freeze plugs, 1 is toast & obvious, did the others pop out easy ?

I tapped them out from the edge. They fought back a bit.

You "pivot" them by driving in one edge and the opposite side swings out. For example you punch in the 3 o'clock edge and the 9 o'clock edge pushes out. You then grab the protruding edge and pull it out the rest of the way.

I prefer to use distilled water for a few days heat/cool cycles because its cheap as in a couple of bucks. It also helps leach mineral deposits out of the system when you dump it to put in coolant.
Never done that. Time is money too

Aight. No leaks. Now I'm starting to put things back in place. Before the tear down I had not done anything as far as setting up the fuel system. I added 10 gallons of no corn to the tank and blew some air in to figure out which hose was the pickup. Hint...if you get bubbles it's the pickup.
The hose to the inside is it.

Got this trick bracket from Toyota Matt for the OEM filter

I hooked up the starter wire and discovered this big green plug woven into the harness way down by the starter. This thing does not show up on the wiring diagram. This kinda creeps me out for what I have in store. I've been ignoring the weird wires until now

Good Mornings are those that you get out to the shop and there are no puddles of

PS Fluid
Coolant
Oil
90 wt

It's a good day so far.

New Remflex and the intake and exhaust manifolds back in place and properly torqued.

While we had this down time with me off in Arizona for 2 weeks I took the opportunity to send this New In Box Asian 21100-61012 carburetor off to the man that was born on December 25th with the initials JC

Looks like he did quite a bit to it looking at his notes and of course he ran it on his stand. That's a big relief to me.

Another thing is, the steel studs I got a link up top turned out to be a good fit

Not green but this looks like the same connector on my '83 Troopy. It's maybe just behind the starter but over near the frame rail. I unplugged the connection to take the photo. As far as I can tell, two of the wires go to the transfer case and two go to the transmission. Not sure about the other two although there is a small two wire connector that isn't connected to anything along the frame rail that could be the other two wires.

Educated guess that the two to the transmission are for the reverse lights and the two for the transfer are for the 4WD indicator light.

I didn't use a meter or dig overly deep so take my assumptions with a grain of salt.

Just looked. I think that portion of the harness is a goner. Both the plugs on the trans and transfer wires are snipped off

The problem with these things is the question of why they were done in the first place?

I'm trying to find that short and keep finding stuff I was hoping not to

sheeeut!!! Sorry man… hate tracking down electrical issues

So here's proof the distributor is doing its job.

I have the DUI wired into the large Black/Yellow that was power for the coil.

I have it tapped as well for the switched 12v for the carburator since I can't find the stock wire.

Amazingly the main coil wire is hot without the "engine" fuse in the truck.

Looking at the wiring diagram this should not be the case.

I quit it for the day. I'll get back on it tomorrow. I sure want this thing to crank.
