Been watching this to see how it played out. You rolled up your sleeves when others would have cried foul and hesitated. You put your head down and got to work and are making it right.

The plugs are out. They look like they were left in there during the build because of the corrosion on the inside of them but they say Made in USA on them.
Whatever. I got a set coming. I'll clean the holes real good and tap them in with some FIPG
I'm going to address the rearmost boot in the head too that was stripped out.
I think the body guy who jack legged the R&I on Dusty’s paint job in ‘08 was present on the engine work here.. always know when imma find trouble when I run into SAE stuff….
Those are old freeze plugs, likely OEM. Old school people know what stuff is suppose to feel like when its installed. When I change my rear main seal - dad told me that's going leak - sure enough it leaked - he could tell by the fit. I now a speedy sleeve to install to solve that problem. I'll be doing something with the fronts axle inner seals and the tranny/transfer too.
This seems to be a common problem when engine builders who aren’t familiar with Toyota engines attempt to rebuild them. Pretty sure @Wadesters had a similar issue on Spike.
I actually had a freeze plug blow out while I was driving mine home from an engine rebuild. The mechanics first and only response when I called him from the side of the road was “Oh $hit”
I was going to tap in the freeze plugs today so they could be nicely cured for when I arrive back from my trip and @FJ60Cam hit me on the repeater and told me I needed to pull off the bellhousing to do the cam plug while I was this far in.
I don't have a cam plug in this kit so he is donating one and his black glove expertise next week when he takes his current project for a long drive from HQ to my area for lunch at Lou's.
He said he will tap these in for me while I'm gone.
That's a relief. It will be ready to plug back in when I return.
