Smoke screen. Keeping that Jeep at bay!! (He was actually a cool guy).
When I got stuck in that area last year @Beastiethe70 set up a winch line from the top of the hill to drag my a$$ up. I was almost to the top, probably just about where the photo was taken. Maggie knows what the hell she's doing and had the whole rigging set up and was actively pulling when a "Jeep dude" parked, ambled over near her, and stood about 2' from a winch line under tension. He then proceeded to tell her how she should be doing things. The fact that he was standing so close to a winch rope with 5000+lbs of tension said it all.

So yeah, Lake Como sometimes has uncool Jeep guys too.

Apparently that hill is the max limit for a 2F carb. Same thing happened to four of us in one day on that same little stretch - conked out from fuel starvation. The pump could send just enough to keep my truck idling but couldn't build up level in the float bowl. Any amount of throttle would hoover up the dregs of fuel in the bottom of the bowl and cause a stall.

That same section was where I may have seen the need for a rear locker.
As for the fuel issues, 3FE for the win!

Quit braggin'!

And yeah, one of the turns on that short stretch was pretty dang rutted out last year. It's also the steepest 20' of the trail. I can see a locker there.

I did make it the second stab, just got cocky on the first.

If I get a Rig with no lockers and a carb can I run with the big Dogs 🙏

I admit, I flinched. Twice.

A typical 6x19 construction 1/2" “winch line” with a yield strength of 26,600 lb has a WLL of around 5,320 lb assuming a 5:1 safety factor.

Upgrade to a 1/2” 19x19 compacted rotation-resistant line and the yield strength goes up to 29,760 lb, but a 5:1 safety factor brings the WLL back down to 5,952 lb, but most folks won’t spend for that. It costs 2x what the 6x19 costs.

This might be where I point out that Warn and others sell 3/8” “12,000 lb capacity” wire rope. The construction of same is unspecified, but 3/8” 7x19 GAC “tow cable” has a yield strength of 14,400 lb and the WLL brings this to 2,880 lb.

Assuming the truck never went vertical and things didn’t get too dynamic, you probably didn’t get 5,000 lb on the line, but things do go wrong from time to time…

Snatch blocks save lives.

(next time ask the Jeep owner if he’d prefer straddling the line.)

I won the catch can but since I don’t have an 80 series, donated it to @mesa man and @Mesa Woman
They, in turn, donated some funny tasting salad back.

I would love to stop by and see you sometime.
I am an A (YouTube) level mechanic after all.

I was thinking about applying but my specialty is mistakes and rework when it comes to working on Land Cruisers. One thing that I can say is that I am very consistent!

Great shop, congrats and good luck with the search!
