First I am with another truck and cruiser is still mobile.

Need parts source and possibly some shade to work in at Moab
. trying to limp there. Probably need a spindle too. Front

Closest place I could find on google that deals in Toyota parts is 107mi from Moab. Cruiser outfitters is 222mi away, not that either does you any good. Unless you can find a local member to help out, you're not looking good.

2 1/8 is a also 54mm (well its off by about .020" ) You might be able to source that easier at a farm/fleet ranch store than 54mm.....

Actually the entire front end is new with 7K miles and I have a full suite of tools but the 54mm was loaned to a fellow cruiser guy and I hadn't gotten it back yet. But thanks for the props. Will keep that in mind someday when you are sitting on the ground in O'Reillys h parking lot undreds of miles from home.

EDIT: the comment this post was directed at has been deleted, so it doesn't make that much sense. I'll make sure to get my 54 mm back and bring it on the next trip. Makes things a bit easier and more accurate than the hammer/chisel thing.

All else fails a flat head screw driver & hammer will work on those spindle nuts...
Hope fully you can clean up the spindle to get you bye.
Good thing you have done this before... you got this sbman.
This is when good stories are told later.
Hang Tuff.

Spindle is fine got it apart. Have a hanger and chisel so will just go that route. Bearings look fine too so now not sure what is going on. Yeah the trip is a good story. Will post it after I get back. 100 miles off road was supposed to be a through road but got 80 miles in and a boulder blocking the road on a cliff. Had to go back out 80 miles the way we came.

Wish my trip overlapped with yours but im a few weeks out. Otherwise I'd meet you there with a socket. Good luck!

So what was the problem/symptom that you had, anyway?

What trail were you on with the boulder in Canyonlands and which part of Canyonlands? I was just through there.

What symptoms were you having?

If spindle and bearings are ok, is the problem in the diff?

Check with Navtec in Moab for an available spare. Otherwise we (Cruiser Outfitters) stock bearings, seals, spindles, etc in SLC and could have on anywhere in the Moab area by Wednesday via UPS Ground.

Yes I bought my axle kits from you. Will have to investigate further to get to the bottom of the issue.

White rim trail. Started at Shafer and then a couple of days later found out that a boulder the size of a vw was blocking the road just past labryinth. A cliff on both sides of the boulder.

It started making a popping sound on bumps from the passenger side front wheel. Jacked up the wheel and the bearing pre load was a bit loose. Trail fix was to use my hammer and chisel to tighten up the pre load. The popping sound remained so I figured the bearings were destroying themselves, but I examined then and no problem.

You probably know this but you can pull the birf and axle out and run without it, if further damage is possible with it in there. You could also pull the drive plates and front driveshaft. Lock the cdl in either case. If you don't have a cdl switch, engage it (low range) and pull the fuse.

I'm going to second checking with Navtec. They're on the right on the main strip there when you're coming in from canyon lands maybe a 1/4 mile from the Moab Information Center. They have a dozen cruisers out front - you can't miss them.

Otherwise cruiser outfitters or (gulp ) o'reilly :slap: Until you can get it fixed.
