Wow! This is so nice. Thanks for posting keep the pictures coming. The build top 10 of mud, the road trips are legen----dary!

Wonderful project, I really like your engine selection. I am a Diesel Lover and currently in the process of restoring a FJ40 in which I have gone for a 1HZ, though originally before I started I had decided for a 3B or a 13BT swap but then I got a good deal on 1HZ..
You seem to be an outdoor guy and a TLC 40 is a good choice you made...

Take care and God bless you/

Thanks everyone i really enjoy working on this thing im in a frantic rush as always trying to get this thing done before the trip. im wondering if i should paint the oil pan or go ahead and have it powder coated while its off which would take a couple of extra days. If im going to powder coat the pan a part of me tells me to pull the push rod cover and powder coat it while its easily accessible. If it had any kind of leak it wouldnt be a question but its bone dry. Im surprised that this 3b has no oil pan gasket or pushrod cover gasket it is actually glued on im assuming this is because the donor was an 1985 model. I do like the idea that it doesnt have gasket to deteriorate.

Ah, Claudia. Claudia, Claudia, Claudia. You don't know this man.

Powder coat it. You know you want to.

You'll regret it now if you skip it. You asked about it so you want to do it. If it isn't in the timeline than shoot some paint on it until comes off again. I'll think this is an awesome build either way

Got the charge pipe cut down at my friends shop he got his new roller out and rolled a couple of beads on for me. Also welded the oil return fitting into the pan.

Went ahead and pulled the side cover so it can be powder coated. This picture shows the napa oil filter that is compatible with the 13bt manifold and upward facing oil filter housing. Thanks for the info Alberto.

Realized I didn't have any pics of the finished front axle.

Got the seats reupholstered the other day. Very happy with them the guy charged me 500 bucks for both and its an automotive vinyl as opposed to the marine stuff which isn't as durable.

This thing desperately needed a cup holder so I went and bought a 4 pack of those plastic cup holders you hang off the window for a 1.99 at Walmart. I had allready welded captive nuts in my seat/console frame so I made this. Not pretty but it works and I like it.
I drilled and countersunk the mahogany, cut the hangers off the cup holders and screwed them down with stainless fender washers.

Very cool thread your 1hz looks brand new!

Thanks a lot for your nice comment.

BTW I like your Idea of a big Fuel tank. Did you buy it or got it specially fabricated?

3B is know to deliver 10 Kilometers per liter here. which comes down to 25 mpg, If you don't mind can you share your experience regarding the fuel consumption?

Thanks

I bought the fuel tank from man-a-fre. As far as fuel consumption the best I got was 21mpg with 31" tires but I will be the first to admit I don't watch my speed as in I drive at whatever the engine doesn't sound like its over revving at. With 33" tires it got 19mpg running 75-83 mph. With the 33" tires it is underpowered. I'm hoping with the regear and the turbo I should achieve 21-24 mpg at 75mph.

I have a pesky internal leak between my trans a transfer case in which the transfer case pushes fluid into the transmission. I ordered a nice bypass hose but unfortunately its not going to get here in time for my trip so I made this today to get me by.
