Being single, I’d tell people Yellr is cheaper than a GF… now I don’t know. Think I crossed that threshold and need face the fact that that math doesn’t add up anymore.

I have been told that "men of a certain age" turn to either a mistress or a car project. At this point in my '40 restoration I know a mistress would be cheaper.

Was chasing my tail with rough running issues. Totally thought it was the carb (City Racer, newish) as the fuel would never be center in the sight glass and found some junk in there (flaking paint from air cleaner). More or less figured those issues out though the fuel drains out of the carb after a bit.

Still ran rough but intermittently, swore it was a fuel delivery issue. Then I figured I’d go through my wires and plugs. Viola! This was the coil to distributor wire. Swapped plugs and wires, cleaned everything and we seem to be good for now.

So, curious about how and why that happened. That end was the distributor side.
Flamethrower coil to Pertronix.
Wire was only a few months old, good quality.
All plugs were uniformly “normal” looking.

Would the end not being totally plugged in cause that Smurf goo?
Moisture?
Both?

Moisture x2. Never tried dialectric grease on sparkolator wire tips. Hmmm

I cleaned it up with a wire brush and some corrosion x. I’ll keep an eye on that now too.

I worked on my soft top install instead.

I will do my best to do a write up on the soft top install as I think there should be some words of warning and it deserves a bit of a cautionary tale…

Is this shaping up to be a “War and Peace” epic read?

I usually run headlong into “Cautionary Tales” so let er’ rip. I would appreciate any tips, tactics, training or words of want and woe.

It is basically mid June and I just finished reading 29 pages of thread I never knew existed. @RevISK this is some really good hard work. You did some excellent repairs for not doing a frame up re-build. The greatest takeaway for me was. …never take it out of service more than a week. Reading your posts was like watching a 1 hour tv show where they re-build the whole freakin house

Back from SAS and cheating on my main squeeze, my girl Norman.

Spent the last few months daily driving Paul the 62 in preparation for SAS9 and with that run checked off and considered a win, it’s time to swing back over to my lady. First thing I did when I got back was run up to the barn, 10 pumps and she was purring like a kitten (with a cough). Did all my errands for the 1.5 days I was home so my wife could drop my son off at first day of 8th grade for some serious “aura”.

She’s running fine but needs some gut work: clutch, t-case rebuild and some while I’m in there sh!ts.

Goal is to have her long distance ready for an early November Big Bend trip.
