If everything works the way it should those baseline numbers will be for your grandson. Crazy thing with the dipstick and fantastic recovery, I've never heard of that happening.

With the OEM V Belt 99332-11250 being NLA I looked at the usual suspects and found that most don't have the belts in stock either.

I used the Gates website to cross reference the belt and found: GATES GLOBAL ONLINE CATALOGUE - https://navigates.gates.com/us/p/gates/9490.html

I received a new Air Cleaner wingnut and replacement dipstick. The wingnut fits perfectly, the dipstick not so much. On the '78 engine the dipstick (15301-61010) is flat and the round rod type dipstick (15301-60031) doesn't fit.

So I started looking for aftermarket replacements.

On Amazon I found 15301-17010 for $7 which is way too long...but that doesn't bother me. So I cut is down and scribed the lines for Low and Full.
At lunch I found a 15301-61010 used on fleabay. Price was right so I'll have that too.

After a lengthy conversation with @cruisermatt I decided to modify my brake line brackets so I could replace the last old rubber on the truck. Turns out the brake lines fit the back plates perfectly and I only needed to modify the mounts on the axels. After a little dremel work they fit perfectly.

I wound up breaking a hard line in the process, but my local auto parts place has steel hard lines cut to length, so a little bending and I have no remaining old rubber or rust on my entire brake system. The Master Cylinder I got from @cruisermatt is still working great.

At some point I have to decide if I care about the lack of brake pressure sensors.

Two quick jobs this afternoon. Replaced the front disc brake pads, the whole "I can't drive 55" fiasco really took a toll on them.

Also getting ready to replace the alternator and then have the original rebuilt as a spare. So, I updated the wiring harness connector. Thank goodness for folks like @Coolerman and the service he provides.

Installed a new Alternator, Voltage Regulater and replaced two crusty firewall grommets.

Took it out for a spin and ran some errands. No hot air coming through the firewall anymore! The trans tunnel still radiates a lot of heat, but the ride is much more comfortable. The charging is much more stable too. The ammeter doesn't bounce around and the voltage is spot on.

Getting ready to swap my old F style intake/exhaust manifold for the correct 2F style. Hopefully, next weekend I'll pick it up. In preparation, I ordered the Felpro version I have seen others mention. I can't believe the box they shipped it in. This thing is bigger than the Chewy's box we get for 50# bags of dog food!

Had my old alternator refurbished by Texas Alternator Starter Service and WOW. They replaced the brushed, bearings, and diodes. Then they blasted and repainted the exterior. Looks amazing.

$165 same price as a new one. But now I have 2! And a great local company has a bit of my cash and I feel good about investing locally.

Well, operation "Get a 2F manifold" didn't work out this weekend. On the upside I did get to tour beautiful Bogata, Paris, and Athens!

I also scored a pair of jump seats. This made the trip worth while.

While reinstalling my carb I noticed that the carb gasket has a hole in it that is not present in the resin base.

It coresponds with the port in the underside of the carb. @65swb45 should there be a hole for manifold vacuum here or am I over thinking it?

The engine is a ‘78. Mainly looking for the 2F style with the extra bolt holes on the ends.
