I would paint it exactly like this FJ55 on bring a trailer. FJ55s have unique classic lines and I personally think this is my favorite colors on a 55. Not too flashy but brings out the body lines nicely...

There’s nothing even remotely stock on this rig except for the body. Using a Toyota color is what I’ll do. No two tone. Black soft top and single color body. The classic lines are there for all to see no matter what the color. That’s what I love about the pigs. Nice went for $85k !! Is that a pig record?

Found the old top. Also found this lady who does marine stuff who’s up for the challenge. Use this top for how to go about it. I want to fab up a way to open the front like the picture

Pat, I like where you’re going with that. Not sure how far you’ve gotten or how committed you are to that exact design, so I’ll only offer you a suggestion - in order to give yourself more ample clearance on that hinge and carrier, what would you think of coming out a couple more inches on that upper plate, say at least 4” total, then beveling back down to the bottom? Would also give a nice step those times when you need to stand on the bumper.

I’m trying to keep the overhang to a Barr minimum. Thinking about top plate bulging out a little at the pivot/ latching points. A step might be frenched in somewhere.
