Thanks for the compliments. The rubber tube was there but completely rotten. I'll add it to the things I didn't know I needed list.

Its looking good. Sorry to hear about the body work. Ive been running into the same thing when looking myself (more for the painting side for me). Anyone Ive been recommended has come with a big "but be mindful it will take a lot longer than you think to get it back completed".

I say you give welding a try. Its useful for tons of things and Im surprised how many times I've used my welder since I got it for random things. Its also not terribly expensive overall. I think I have less than 1500 into my setup and it could be less if you went with a different welder. I went with a Hobart 210MVP but for just sheet metal and stuff you could go with the 140. I also bought my gas tank instead of renting one which was a bit more. That was the biggest chunk by far (around 1100). The mask, gloves, and welding consumables are pretty cheap overall.

As for actual welding...some youtube videos and I had the basics of it. Plus a fair amount of scrap to practice on which I used all sorts of stuff. (could use the cut out sheet metal off the panels you replace). They aren't the prettiest welds but nothing a grinder wont smooth out either.

I found it easier to use a regular 4.5 inch grinder with a cut off wheel on it. The little cut off tool just didn't have enough a$$, and it is easier to maneuver the grinder.

Also, don't buy the SEM copperweld primer from Summit, I have 4 cans now that are very temperamental.

Thanks for the tip. The 9.99 eastwood weld through is very tempting.

The SEM primer I bought earlier this year worked like a dream, sprayed nice, layed down thick, nice adhesion, welded nice.......

I bought 2 cans a few weeks ago from Summit and they don't spray for crap, I had them send me 2 more, same problem. I can get them to spray but only short shots at a time, for the money they cost I should not have a single issue with the way it sprays.

Turn the can upside down, puncture, transfer contents to Preval Sprayer?

That is something I will take a look at, I have one can that I got working by letting it heat up in the sun for a few hours, it seemed to spray better after that. It is just a shame that for $20 a can I would even have an issue.

Spent some more time with the flap disc and sprayed some weld through. A buddy stopped by with his welder and we fit the rocker patch and burned it in. This is the first time I have gotten behind a mig gun.

After looking at my blistered out rockers on the karma cruiser for the last four days, this is very tempting. Planning any trips to Kali?

I think the baton is passing by my place today.

Good looking work Jesse, especially for a first-timer.

Are you angling for a trip out of Ohio in Feb too?
