I believe that I am going to try.

I never set out to build a top of the line show rig, just something solid, dependable, and utilitarian. I have been kicking around ideas on the finish, rattle can, summit racing line of paint, monstaliner, or spend the loot on a good paint job locally. I have ruled out monstaliner, partially because bedliner is part of the reason I'm still building it. I may roll the underside with monstaliner, maybe.

An HVLP setup is pretty inexpensive. We ponied up after being unhappy with the way the rattlecan turned out. I was really surprised at how much easier the HVLP gun was to use than a rattle can. It also opens up a ton of better products (my favorite so far has been epoxy primer).

Actually the epoxy primer is one of my next things to purchase, my metal work should pick up the pace when the Real Steel order arrives. With the high dew points and humidity some of my bare metal has some surface rust forming, as you have already seen! My neighbor has a Devilbiss HVLP set he has offered up to use, the lack of an air compressor is my biggest hurdle. Although it would be cheaper to buy a complete air compressor and all the goodies than have to pay for someone else to shoot the paint.

Got all the body mounts installed that dont require 2 people(the 2 that come down from the top of the tub).

One fender on. I have to pull the rest of the front clip out of storage where it has been waiting patiently.

Volvo cars. Also, that pulley is 5/8" wide, which is close enough to use the 17mm Cruiser belt.

Thank you sir! I just ordered one. How is the output pressure? Do you typically have to crank up the pressures in these or are they fine as is? The pulley looks to be a smaller diameter than a standard saginaw pump pulley as well from the pictures...

This morning, i prepped the 40 for the trip to the bodyshop. The drum retaining screw has been driving me nuts as the one in the parts for the rear axle was damaged.

I was able to do a small amount of grunt work this morning. Stripped the quarters and rockers to get a game plan for replacing. Looks like bondo on the rear curve and the rest is clean.

Rear sill is finished fitting and got a coat of weld through primer. Should be wrapping up as I type. Metal guy (Ryan) hit the sill with a torch to get rid of any moisture or other contaminates prior to priming. We should be starting on the quarters tomorrow.

Rear sill is in place. Quarters are removed and new are being fitted. I cleaned up the edges of the floor and hit them with KBS rust treatment. Any of the blind areas that will see welding are being treated with Upol weld through primer. After mefia blasting, ill treat inside of the main beams and rails.

I vacuumed it out today, it looks really solid. After sandblasting, I will probably spray something like kbs, por, etc. or storage seal. The eastwood with the tube might work well too….

I have a hole on the passenger side of the main beam, I am considering drilling the drivers side for drainage and ability to oil spray or whatever.

Drivers rear quarter is tacked into place, along with rear sill. Passenger side should be in place this afternoon. I was able to cut the patch for the Drivers floor today. We also scheduled media blaster for 3 weeks from now.
