While I’m waiting on a slew of parts I got the pedal assembly in to see how it looks and got the dash clearanced for the column.

Just a little but something. Mini victory.

Ima gonna start looking into the pedal situation.

Okay after realizing that my order had been cancelled, reordered and got the cool oil pan!, and as well, got the trans tunnel cover.! That is big because from what I understand the Marks conversion will set the stick in the stock hole. Which will give me another hint as to where this engine is supposed to live.

It’s like a little adventure where every turn whispers ‘run away’!

Weeereeeeeee

Gonna call up Oren over at AA to see if he has any beta and begin to look at the various threads that have the LS Pigs.

The oil pan took care a lot of the axle/ tie rod clearance issues.

Now the question is how far foreword and how far back do I need to go. Would like to keep from cutting that tunnel cover, but sure don’t wanna mount this thing and not have the fan fit!

You know what Brisvegan! That video made it worse for me. If I get it wrong the drive shaft blows up? Now I’m never gonna get it done, too afraid!

Boy, just had a great day on Tuesday!

Had Rush55 drop in for the day! Wow what perfect timing! He and I messed around with the engine and I think we may have figured it out. I feel a bit better about it.

I have a call into Oren at AA because the Marks adapter is supposed to let me switch out the 2f with a LS and maintain the stock stick position. After Rush55 and I messed around, with what we messured a 1/2 in between the fan and the radiator, the stick was moved back about 4” from its original location. It would be cool not to have to cut the tunnel cover. After all that’s what the Marks Adapter is famed for doing. Gonna send some pic to Oren and see if he has any suggestions.

Now I just ordered some more parts! I have the headers coming, new steam vent thingy, and the bracket for a relocating the AC. Just money right. This is definitely a $5k build.

After I get these things bolted on I will ck that all is right and BURN those engine mounts in!!! Wow that will be such a big hurdle to have behind me! :0

PS pump with pulley and headers and possibly the AC compressor. If either the PS or AC doesn’t quite work out, check into the ICT relocation brackets. As it sat when I left, it looked like enough room for the PS pulley to clear the steering box, but there was some interference between the AC mount and the axle housing at the diff banjo. We also had 1/2” clearance between the fan clutch and imaginary radiator. We also had decent up/down clearance at the 2F bellhousing and firewall/upper trans hump and the top rear of the t-case and the two-part formed tub crossmember at the very back of the trans hump. Any more upward would require sheetmetal work in those areas. We had 1/4” clearance between the new low-pro oil pan and rear mounted factory FJ80 tie rod.
So as a reminder to the readers, this FJ80 chassis is sitting on bump stops with no coil springs currently installed. IIRC, X is planning on 2” lift springs, so my thinking is with an additional 1” longer bumpstops, there should be plenty of clearance in all directions (plenty more testing with jacks and forklifts, obviously). My suggestion was to tack weld all the frame side mounts in several locations prior to testing everything out, that way if something needs to be changed it will be easier to cut loose.

Have you looked at any of their stuff yet?

Summit carries their stuff also. And they also have a store on eBay.
