I did the same thing a few weeks ago.For a long time I’ve been wanting to swap out these old welded/brazed air injection ports with these nifty Allen plugs to make for a clean desmog but was legit concerned I might break one of these 40 year old plugs off in the head.
I put a ratchet on them and they wouldn’t budge, so I gingerly tapped them with my 3/8 impact wrench and the first one broke loose nice and clean. Then the remaining five came out no problem.
Nice little win.

Doug Demuro just bought an 8 year old LC with 90k mikes for 48K!Drove to the dealer this afternoon. Got really close to closing the deal but walked. Checked out the undercarriage and lines again. Looked pretty good actually. Sweet truck... but, even getting a ridiculously good trade in value on the 4R ($50k!!) against the $48k LX570, once adding in the 10% DC tax and adding tires (dealer wouldn't give me a discount on the tires), I would walk out owing at least $5k more than I owe now and my monthly payment would be up $100. It stopped making sense at that point. I'm thinking I need to find a cheaper 200 and wait until I move out of DC. In the meantime, I'll happily see you all up at flag pole in the Easter Bunny 4Runner. She's a good girl after all. I drove home feeling like the spark was back.

I’m one of the few who actually loves a tan (beige) leather interior. My 2016 Avalon has a tan/beige leather interior and I love the contrasting colors with the black dash and brown leather accents. Perhaps tan/beige interiors are more applicable to luxury vehicles and not utility vehicles. I’d say the LX570 is more on the luxury end of the spectrum.Yeah- I saw that! He mentions in his video one of the same issues I was having yesterday- beige interior! If that truck yesterday had a grey or black interior I may have jumped on it after all. It would have been harder to think clearly.
Nice little win.
I see these tan door panels and just try to imagine scrubbing the mud out!I’m one of the few who actually loves a tan (beige) leather interior. However, on the new F350 Tremor I recently ordered I went with a black leather interior because I thought it matched the intent of the truck better and appeals to a wider segment of the population if I ever want to resell.
It's called a "souvenir".My dash still has mud on it from last August
its got to be that new common core math I keep hearing aboutOk. Did some quick math- was running this by the wife over dinner and she was having trouble following but I’m pretty sure this is pretty straightforward.
The LX570 I was looking at would have cost me another $6-7k over my 4Runner. I didn’t buy the LX so that means I now am $7k richer than yesterday. So…
$1,200 Dobinsoms 2.5” lift with comfort shocks
$800 winch bumper
$800 winch
$1,200 285/70r17 tires
$1,100 White Knuckle Sliders
= $5,100 total to make the 4Runner more “comfortable”
Add in $1,000 to rent a minivan whenever in laws come to visit (for that 3rd row action)
= ($7k saved not buying LX570 - $6,100) = positive $900 in my pocket by implementing the above plan and keeping the 4Runner.
The math checks out pretty solid to me… you guys agree?![]()
You'd actually be richer by getting the LX and putting the sliders and larger tires on it.. saving the cost of the rental every time the in laws come to visit. And the sliders, skids, etc is for protection to keep the family safeOk. the LX with go up in value over time so idk, with what they offered you for the T4R i myself would have done it in a heartbeat, but thats just meOk. Did some quick math- was running this by the wife over dinner and she was having trouble following but I’m pretty sure this is pretty straightforward.

The LX is still there… so as far as I know I can still make this happen if I decide to.the LX with go up in value over time so idk, with what they offered you for the T4R i myself would have done it in a heartbeat, but thats just me
