Working on another project while I wait for parts. And no I didn't decide to do this because of Coronapocalypse. This has been a long time coming and I figured since I was going to have a few weeks off I'd take a run at it. I still plan to put some half inch hardware cloth around the perimeter over top some weed cloth, then layer pea gravel on top of all of it. Should be good for 6-8 chickens. Got the coop from a guy out in Strasburg who just moved to the area. Very sturdy but not stupid heavy like the ones the Amish make.

Was that a kit?

Nah, bought it just like that and put it on my 6x12 trailer. The footprint is 4x8. I think he has them listed on FB marketplace but I met the guy when he listed a used James Baroud. I didn't buy the RTT but saw these he was building and a month later, last Sunday, went out to pick one up. I put it on a frame of ground contact 4x4s after leveling off the ground. Since I want the coop to be mobile I did this with the frame (not finished in that pic). Not sure what it's called.

Here’s a pic of our chicken tractor. I call it a chicken tractor for tractors. We bought an Amish 6x12 coop and then I welded a frame, hitch, and rear swing arm for it. Worked great, but then we sold it prior to moving to New Mexico. In all seriousness, if you have bears in your area, weld rebar over the windows, otherwise they’ll just punch through the windows and make a snack out of your chickens.

Did you have to worry about anything digging under?

Did you have to worry about anything digging under?

No, not really. We were careful to park it on level ground so there weren’t any gaps around the bottom. It weighed about 1500lbs so nothing was going to lift it. But a bear punched through the windows and killed half the birds. Pretend like you’re building fortress and you’ll be good. And get and automated chicken door so you don’t have to open/close it every morning and night. Good luck!

Activated with the MDND since Wednesday, been improving my nest. Not to bad a place to crash in the Armory parking lot.
Going to stop all those not Social Distancing!
But seriously stay safe!

Well, I did nothing of importance to the well-being of the masses, but I did do some backyard clearing of fallen trees, cleaning and maintenance of chainsaw and weed eater, more tree work, made a list of sh!t to do this week, and ate dinner by the Solo Stove on the deck. Bourbon was involved in the last part. Monday is supposed to be rainy so I hope to dive deep into cleaning/reorganizing my basement storage area. Just even starting it will be a win.

Another unboxing and picked up a harmonic balancer puller from advance auto. Was also able to get the studs out (double nut method worked great). I was able to install the first new parts finally.....just the thermostat and associated gaskets.

When I tried to pull the harmonic balancer nut the holding tool I got is too tight so I’ll knock a little material off. I ordered an angle grinder to do the fan shroud mod but it hasn’t come yet some I’m held up until it does.

I also ordered all the heater bypass hoses, oil cooler hoses, and the correct clamps from Toyota.
