I was looking into packing ice chest for an 8 day off grid party and struggling to find a good way to keep the beer cold without freezing it on the dry ice. Good news for us non refrigerator old school ice chest types, there is a little store right outside the camp grounds that sells ice!

J Mack,

I'm using dry ice this time to keep meat frozen at least until the pot luck. As far as beer, we'll just have to drink them fast.

Throw in a Barry White tape, flip the switch on the campfire, Oh Yeah I'm camping! :)

Great Place, and a pretty good selection for us beer snobs.:)

Looks like a 60% chance of rain this Saturday at the North Rim. Hopefully that keeps things open for at least one more week. Ha!

So, who's on the road already? I'm hoping Deo made it out today, anybody else.
We'll be leaving Monday and will be stopping for the night at either the Meteor Crater RV Park east of Flagstaff or the KOA Campground on the east side of Flagstaff. We'll be getting to the DeMotte Campground mid-afternoon on Tuesday the 19th. I'm getting really close to having the '86 FJ60 ready to go, complete with the FJ55 loaner grille. Only 3-1/2 days to go, and a half dozen things to wrap up, including breaking in the rebuilt 3FE and charging the A/C syatem. The '86 hasn't been on the road since '95. Even though I'm crashing the event, initially to meet up with @LAMBCRUSHER, it's been a great incentive for wrapping up my 2-1/2 year project.

I hit a snag tonight that I should have known about in advance - spent most of the day cleaning/prepping/painting the FJ60's skid plate. Then it hit me - I temporarily installed the donor FJ62's exhaust system for the 3FE break-in, and one of the exhaust pipes crosses under the frame rail right near the back of the skid plate. Big time interference! I don't want to cut up my newly refurbished skid plate for e temporary fix. It looks like I'll break in the engine then take it to the custom exhaust shop to have them re-do the exhaust from the 3FE manifolds to the FJ60 catalytic converter to eliminate the exhaust pipe that crosses under the frame rail. It'll be a lot cleaner installation, then I can bolt up the skid plate.

I don't want to do any off-road driving until I have a skid plate, so it looks like I'll be bringing my '76 FJ40, wearing the FJ55 grille. And no, the FJ40 isn't green either.

THATS ok... the 40 will feel right at home ;)! and maybe get the respect an older brother might be afforded....hint hint, guys...

no SKID PLATE REQUIRED

We're also jamin - want this to be "Marv's"coming out party. Don't want to be forced into bringing the more trail ready 60. Marv wont be done - but should be looking decent. Leave Sunday early AM, stop in maybe Beaver - Then on to Demott on Monday. Will try and not ding up Marv to much after the 3 years of work.
