Where did you get those hubcaps. I have a 40th, but the hubcaps have a gold emblem. I'm not sure, but I think they are wrong. I need to find out what the 40th had or find some like yours.

Welcome to mud.... No way to make an entry like bumping a 5 year old thread; and noone seems to notice :grinpimp:

Some 80s had a gold package for emblems and such and the caps might have been part of that detail but I think all the 40ths had smoked chrome emblems.

I'm not sure if 40ths were any different color scheme but if it bugs you several have painted theirs with great success or if it really bugs you you could call up one of the vendors on here that offers a discount and see if they are still available.

This is spray paint and a good paint pen though. I have no idea if its stock color scheme and suspect its not as they were faded to bare plastic

Same truck, same tires, five years later. I guess those KM2's are pretty good in durability. They roll 7 days a week at leas 30 miles a day, not counting the weekends which is double or triple the distance at least.

I have to agree about the statements above about the 80 series stock wheels & how you just don’t see many aftermarket wheels on these rigs.
Toyota simply did a great job in there design.
I had for a short time went to another wheel tire combo & the day I did, it just didn’t look right, actually just odd looking.
I now have the stock LX wheels back on there & it just looks 400% better. (100% per corner…)

I love the looks and fit of it all. Stock wheels are very cool but a couple of mine had bad rock rash so the good ones will just get painted and used on my trailer.

Box Rocket Those are great looking! I think the problem is that unlike most stock wheels, the 80 wheels are actually pretty cool. I have seen some on here that are just fugly. Not going to mention names. To each his own. I'm sure plenty dislike my bronze!
I agree, which is why I still use the stock wheels.

Thanks. Yes, I'm new. I bought an fj80 new back in 1994 and drove it until 2002. Sold it, then missed it ever since. I just recently bought another one. I'm still trying to figure out how to use this site. My 40th needs some work to get it perfect. The hub caps are obviously wrong. If you have a recommendation on who to talk to on 40th original parts, I'd appreciate the referral. Thanks again.

I typically like to stay with OEM. But I wanted more off set with out spacers. m/t seemed to have the highest load rating in there classic style that doesn't take away from the 80.

Now if I can just finish painting my flares. After 2 years...

I like the 315 Toyo MTs on my factory steelies. I had the original factory rims refinished, but they're too nice to put back on.

New LX450 owner and thinking of putting on some new tires & wheels.

What is your favorite tire / wheel combo and main use - i.e - DD + city driving, DD + week-end trials, trail use only. Pics of them on your rig?

Mine will be a week-end vehicle for occasional trail use...when I can find the place and time to go.

cheers,

The 40th's came with standard center caps. There are only two versions, '95-'97(silver with gold emblem) or '93-'94 (silver, black center and gold emblem), whether or not the truck had chrome, gold or black pearl body emblems. Can also be verified by part numbers that those where the only two made.

This image is the exact same on a 40th anniversary poster I have hanging on my wall (minus the phrase "Leading the way in America for 40 years").

BTW my 40th came with gold emblem caps....but I fixed that a long time ago! I believe it's a typical GM gray color available at the auto parts store that is a dead on match to the wheels.
