Dually Tubes, spindles, and axle shafts were identical between the Dually and Van axles. The only difference on the Dually is the wheel flange offset and drum mount on the Hubs (important for a rear axle) and the location of the brake mount flange, spring perches, shock mounts on the housing (all got cut off both housings anyway). So, long story short, the dually housings should be fine for the front axle swap, but if you get a Van axle for the front, you also get spare hubs.

When I did the cost/benefit analysis on the brand new cab vs. reapiring the mine truck cab, plus the bonus of having a spare cab for mock-up and fabrication, not to mention just having the spare cab in the event of a roll over or something or my inexperience with and dislike of body work and the resulting cost of outsourcing that work... it just made a lot of sense to buy Crusher's Cab.

Bought it huh, that should save ya almost a year of sundays worth of body work, painting and welding.

More like 7 years if you work like me! ;)

Lots of sense, pretty sure I spent one winter cleaning the underbelly, of rust and mine s***, replacing rockers, and patching the floor and painting the bottom and fire wall. Still have the roof to deal with not to mention the drivers door is rubbing on the top of the cab cause it got dinged pretty hard and got shifted back ;)

Good luck with the build, sounds awsome.

Hmmm pretty shiny parts...

Not quite as shiny in person.

Anyone in Calgary have a largish mill and nothing better to do this weekend?

I have this in our shop but I'll have to see if I can borrow a cutter from the machine shop.

Got my axles and frame back from the Sand Blaster today. It rained on the way home! Seriously!
Shot some WD40 over everything when I got home to try to keep some of the water/oxygen off the iron.
Built an axle stand to securely clamp down the axles while working on them.

Then starting shaving my pumkin. Err... cutting the bottom off the differential, I mean.

Almost 5CM get's cut off. This is just the first rough cut. It will get cleaned up.

I look forward to comparing the clearance on this shaved 14 bolt to a stock LC diff, or even an mini-truck diff.

I used a porta-band for most of the cutting. A bit of zip-disk to nibble away, but the rough cut was pretty easy. I hope I didn't take off too much...

I took up AwlTeq on his Mill offer, and got both housings shaved.

Took a while but I am very pleased with the results. We took the time to machine around the ribs so the shave plate will be embedded down into the ribs. I am happy with this.

I had convinced myself that I didn't need a mill, but that was a lot of fun, actually.

did that bottom piece come with the edge chamfered or did Kevin do that?

The Chamfer comes on the TMR 15 Bolt conversion Shave Kit plate.

Looks nice.

How's your back.

How's your back.

Thanks Kevin, Back is way better in the last month. Better than it's been for 2 years, I would say. Dr. says due to a childhood tramua related to a little-league-sliding-into-3rd-base injury, I'll never run a marathon or climb a mountain. (Which was a relief) But I am able to run a chainsaw, weld, and chop wood, and set-up camp, which is what I want to do, so I am happy with that. I am pretty carefull about what I try to lift, and that's why you've seen so many "Can anyone help me lift..." e-mails this year.

keep that wd40 off your sandblasted parts. for that matter keep it out of your shop if you plan to paint anything. It's on the restricted list at all paint shops. Get something that will remove silicone and wash your parts with it.

we just bought a lathe and a mill is next on the list!

LOookiing GREAT

Since I had Ziplock's Rear Diff apart, I decided to do some 14Bolt/Land Cruiser comparison pictures. The 14 Bolt is the.. uh.. bigger one, in all the pictures.
