My wife and I are headed to Scotland for 10 days in May.
(May 10th - May 23rd)

I expect some delays in order fulfillment but will have some support staff to answer emails and pack a few kits while we're away.

We're headed to Edinburgh, Glasgow, and many other spots I dare not attempt to pronounce. A pin-pal of mine, Paul has graciously offered up his 1HD-FTE powered HDJ101 to us while we explore the countryside. Who knows? Maybe I'll 2UZ swap his truck and pack up the 1HD in my carry-on 😂

Go check out his YouTube channel if you have a moment. Lots of good maintenance content and thick accents.
Gave him a sub :)

Party time! Gonna go test these on the rocks this weekend…

Did you spot any 105s?
When I was in AUS I was always trying to see under all the 100s if they were IFS or not. I only saw 1 while I was there, I think they are pretty sought after no matter where you are in the world.

Center section complete with bling, high clearance (as high as you can get pretty much- short of cutting into the body and angling the frame but whatever)

Tested it on the rocks and it held the weight of the truck on a small rock. Pretty solid.

Grinder and paint…

that's a really cool bumper design

1HD-FTE stock is a slow pig. HDJ101 RHD kinda sucks to drive because it’s so slow. Still amazing but I’m definitely over the diesel hype (hot take)

Sounds like you need a good under bonnet refresh and upgrade. Its a major exercise if you are game enough (silly enough) to start down that journey. There are many tweaked diesel cruisers down here in NZ & Australia.

Okay where were we...

A few maintenance items & upgrades
  • gear oil changed (all three)
  • swapped in 29.5mm Cruiser Patch torsion bars (previously running 20+ year old OE 28.87mm bars) - went from 3-4 splines index to 2-3 splines (RH-LH)
  • whacked myself in the noggin with a wrench (ow)
  • cut a tire at GSMTR 34
  • busted a CV at GSMTR
  • retrofit Homelink from a 2005 LX470 w/ sun-glass holder into the truck (best of both worlds)
  • added this Dashcam to the truck and caught a wreck on camera within 2-days of installing it lol (ATL, ho)

Also noticed that I busted my RH inner again- this one was installed by me along with a new steering rack (it was part of the assembly) earlier this year in January. I'm going through inners like @MongooseGA now...hate it for us 100 guys, amiright @ga12r1 ?

  • Busted RH inner (GSMTR)
  • Bent RH spindle (GSMTR)
  • weighed the truck at 7060 lbs. with a full tank and driver & passenger buckled up (damn that's heavy)

Inner tie rod plastic sleeve left the chat. Lots of lateral play when shaking the wheel at 3 & 9 o'clock (rack is under warranty by Toyota but they need me to pull the rack even though the only part that failed is the inner. I'll wait until November and see how the rack is holding up, then pull it)

Left: alignment pre-GSMTR
Right: alignment post-GSMTR

You can see the results of a bent spindle but oddly it improved my caster numbers. No need to replace IMO but I am getting some frame rub that wasn't present before...I have three (3x) spare LH spindles but no RH spindle spares...anybody got one lying around?

The larger heavier tires, keeping up with Lee’s fast pace, hard wheeling hammers 100series ITR’s pretty good, shortens lifespan.

I'm not convinced it's the fault of the tires at all. I was busting them on 35s all day long before- The problem is just speed & impact. 100s can't keep up with 200s.

I didn't get a chance to wheel with Lee this year sadly. Wheeled with Alex on his 1Tundred though which is basically a 200 with a 4.7

Agree- “The problem is just speed & impact”

Missed you at C-Rockies- catch you at C-Rocks-

Cheers Patch

What can I say? I'm a trend setter.
