i'll throw this in as it's kinda sorta relevant: When loaded for "overistering" (overland toursting as that is what it is), I cover the entire load zone (behind front seats all the way to tail gate) with a load restraining net.
For the forward...
Hi Woody,
I'm in a discussion on one of the forum threads ( Dissent or Slee Rear Bumper - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/dissent-or-slee-rear-bumper.1337112/page-2#post-15452926).
I tried to post an additional comment but for whatever...
well...this frustrates the hell out of me that these vids were not in existence during my install. I have no doubt that mine probably is mis-aligned.
what is not shown is the 90#-lb torquing. the smallish ratchet does not do justice to the large...
Main advantage is just audio quality, plus reliability I suppose. Shouldn't really need any manual input or visual attention after initial setup. Doesn't really make sense to do if you're invested in a tape collected though, thanks for the feedback!

I chose dissent because:
a) no cutting of frame cross member (I believe a cut is necessary for slee....could be wrong).

c) comes in pieces...easier to handle on purchase...

case in point.....owned a highly used vw golf ('86). absolutly bone stock w/o even a radio. parked in driveway. someone pried the dash out to steal a radio that wasn't even there...
during my install, I cross threaded one and tried to force it. It would not seat.
backed it out, ran a tap through, went in like butter and straight.
wood fires are allowed in metal containers in anza borrego.
I'm brining a small diameter weber bbq w/o legs.
If you bring firewood, the adage is "buy where you burn"......prevents non-native insect transport.
No help here :bang:
To avoid said problem, I always buy bone stock rigs and do any mods one at a time on my dime....paid to professionals (I know enough to shoot myself in the foot).
Even then, trouble can happen but at least you know where to...
Make sure to factor in the following w/r go cheap:
1) cost to r & r winch
2) mental cost
Old new England adage: buy the best. Wear it out. Fix it up. Do with out.
Me/myself/I would buy middle of the min/max price points while looking at the...
