Panhard drop bracket option? (4 Viewers)

One other note. With the new panhard bracket, the coil now has to be removed/inserted from the front of the coil perch. With the rear lower shock bolt removed, along with disconnecting the KDSS bar, there is room. Like @linuxgod mentioned, a set of coil compressors would not be a bad idea for future removal/insertion, especially if you are doing it by yourself.
having trouble with multi-quote this morning! - Where are you guys having to grind it? (and what years are your trucks? - might be able to identify the difference between the truck I tested on and tweak it a bit)
Had to knock the little curved point off the driver side vehicle front and quite a bit on the passenger side tab that goes into the OEM bracket “slot”.

Edit: 2013 MY

Great pics! I was wondering about the backside access and was thinking spring removal would be the best. Is it possible to weld the inside of the bracket?

You can definitely access most of the inside. I felt I had enough penetration on the outside weld so I didn't weld up the inside. If for some reason you were ever going to use the factory panhard bolt hole, you would probably have to knock the bead down a bit there.

I don't think I would worry about it. If you are welding this on, you likely have an angle grinder already handy. Took all of 3 minutes to get it to drop in. Mine is a 2019.

Same for me

I’m about to install the panhard bracket and was looking at it thinking “I wonder if I’ll be able to get the coil out after the bracket goes in.” I looks like I’d have to remove the shock and pull the coil out the front side of the axle. How did you do it?
I did remove my lower shock mount and KDSS arm but only to help the axle droop more and get more room. Not sure if I did not think of going forward at the time or there just isn't enough room even with the shock unbolted on the lower part. I probably didn't want to bang up my king shock either. I used a pry bar and a lot of leverage to get the coil through/ past the new bracket from the back/ side angle. It was a reallllll PITA! I have thrown coils in and out of all types of landcruisers and the new bracket really changes the usual approach up.

I was thinking I’d maybe have to pull the entire shock out. Maybe a spring compressor would help though that’s just more stuff in a tight space.

Got the bracket installed today:

Took it for a drive on freeway and it makes a big difference No more butt wiggle on high speed bumps.

How much lift are you at in the rear?
I don’t have any reference measurements from when I was stock but my new 2724s added 2” from where I was at with 2721s and 30mm spacers. I’m guessing I’m at least 3” to 3 1/2” of lift now.

Edit: I’m 23 1/2” center of axle to fender. I did find a stock reference for a 2021 HE of 21” so maybe my lift is only 2 1/2”. Not sure if there is much difference in stock height between MYs.

2-row HE seemed to be about 3/4” higher than a base, so your initial 3-3.5 numbers seem to make sense.

Panhard orientation looks perfect.

I am going to pick one of these up for an eventual install but I am not feeling the rear wallow/wiggle some of y'all are speaking of.

How much lift? The taller they get the more pronounced it will be due to sagitta. My lift is mild enough that the lower hole in the new bracket should work great.

Let me know who does your welding, ill be moved to Houston in the next month or so.
I'll bring my rig too to get the unit welded on! A skill I never acquired. When I lived in Midland I had buddies who could knock it out in moments with top fabrication quality welds. In the Houston area I'm sure that skill is all over here, but just not my drinking buddies.

I have a guy, he builds wild stuff, should be able to knock them all out at same time.

This kind of wild stuff. As you’ll notice that was a brand new IFS truck originally lol.

Reminds me of 20 years ago this coming Memorial Day weekend when out of the old Yahoo 3FE group spawned an epic gathering, the Spring Bash!
3fe_sb_03)1030.jpg

We had a group buy of 13 sets of Dobinsons suspensions for FJ62's direct from Oz. The group buy turned into a wrenching event with participants from across the US. We lifted 4 trucks and forged lasting friendships and an annual event that went on for almost a decade. The next year was in NE Pennsylvania where they rebuilt T-cases. Then it morphed into a gathering-wheeling event from the UP of Michigan to 14k in Colorado, back country Oregon and Southern Arizona. I'm still running that suspension in my FJ62 (on jackstands in front).

Many of us are still on MUD, all with 15 year ribbons. from left front is @euclid then @KLF. Second row left is @overhanger the seated @Sea Knight of the famed "Saving the Old Rustbucket" thread in the 40-55 section, and Me @Dunbar with the hat. By then we were all veterans of Nightlight and the Land Cruiser Mailing List. And on that night in late May of 2003 the Broken Birfield Bar was on my dock on Lake LBJ in Central Texas.

That was a hell of a weekend, so much fun and so many memories. I still have the t-shirts! Wearing my Yooper Bash shirt right now!

Roll call, guys... post up!!

That's awesome! I was a Jeep guy back in the 2000's and we had many weekend long meetups for similar reasons, we always called them "wrench-athons" lol.

So the distance between the OEM mounting hole (lowest) to the top hole on the welded bracket is 3 1/4”. If the panhard angle is about right, my lift is ~3 1/4”.
