Here's a few updates on putting the truck back together....
The manifold is back on and tighten down to the sequence and specs in the FSM. Speaking of torqueing I torqued the two studs on the bottom of the exhaust manifold too tight (yes both of them!). And they both broke. Fortunately I saved 2 that I pulled out of the manifold so I was able to use them. I got the JimC EGR JPipe port covered with the plate he made.
I got the carb back on. The nut that goes closest to the driver side fender and fire wall is an absolute pain. I really couldn't tighten it very well at all. I can't remember how we got it off because it was so hard to tighten. if I have a leak this will probably be the first place I look.
I started to route the new vacuum lines. More to come today....

A stubby 12mm wrench is the ticket to getting those carb nuts snugged down. Keep at it, even if you can only get a quarter turn at a time... you definitely don't want a leak at the base of your carb. Everything is looking great. I'm looking forward to the day you fire it up again!

Or just break the closed end off a 12mm like I did and stuff a silicone cap on it so it's not sharp.

Btw you did a fabulous (maybe too girly, coming from this female mudder) job on that manifold (or your machinist)... huge improvement to when you first pulled it. Kudos!

Well she cranked up tonight for the first time in a long time! Whoo hoo! That's a great feeling!
She won't hold idle without the choke but I think I may know what's up with that. More on that in the next post!
I figured out where that cap goes from the JimC kit. You put in on the end of the line where the EGR was. It caps that off and seals off the PCV plate that goes on the intake.
My good friend Ben has generously made me a plate that the PCV line can connect right too so this will be coming off tomorrow.

On that holding idle problem.... I think I still have a vacuum leak.
I forgot to do something with this opening on the carb which I have to guess is causing a problem. Any ideas on where it connects to? I am guessing this hard line on the firewall in the pic but I have no idea where that hard line goes to.

That's where it goes but that shouldn't have anything to do with the idle
If the brake booster port (big one) is still open, that would effect idle.

Oh yes! I have the AC idle up switch connect to that point on the carb. But what does that plug go to? Thanks!

Morning update.... that connector on the carb was the key! I found the other end which I noticed goes to the idle solenoid. Which makes total sense on why it would not idle! Now... it's idles perfectly.
Did a timing adjustment and and all is good there. Now tinkering with the carb.

Well... I really am jacked up this morning! @BGarcia88FJ62 and I just put the finishing touches on Old Bessie and she is running like a dream!
Vacuumnis holding steady at 22 and she is running perfectly. I think I about jumped through the roof of the truck when I cranked her up and she started.
