Thickly cushioned pearl white rich Corinthian leather?Well, I wrestled internally if I should do gray, black, or coral for the seat colors. After a massive amount of overanalyzing I decided on the gray. Then, the next day I got someone on the phone and canceled that order, and placed a new order. Turns out that if you provide the material, Cruiser Corps will make the seat covers in whatever you like. So... that's what I decided to do, and for all the haters & purist, the seats will not be black, gray, or coral. But I'm going to like it better, it won't be as hot, and if it's my butt sitting on it and my butt paying for it, then I'm going for it. LOL! I'll post photos when they are done.

I went with this marine grade vinyl that is supposed to be soft to the touch and feel like leather. I thought about doing cloth & vinyl too, but my wife said "No! If you and the boys go fishing and get messy then it will be a pain to get that off of cloth seats." So I went with this material in the tan, or camel color. Thicker too so less chance of a tear, scratch resistant, waterproof. I think it will look great with the red. Started to go beige, but went with this:

May even use the leftover material to make new sun visor covers, and dash pads upper & lower covers which I hadn't thought about until my guy mentioned it but with the red I think that would look great!

He made more progress this week when off from his full time job:
Fj40 is moving along. Drilled out the broken hardtop mounting sections. Welded in new nuts. I believe 6 total could not be saved. (I wish I had a dollar for every bolt that has snapped on this thing).
Fixed a drivers side pillar issue. Somehow the person that previously welded the full quarters on had the top end of the drivers side post sticking out 1/3-1/2” so it was crooked. Brought it back in to match stock. Basically if looking down the side from behind it was bowed out at the top. Your door would have been sticking out at the bottom but flush at the top after assembly. Or I’d have to bend the door to match. So I repaired it the right way.
Finished the last two rounds of sanding. Working on cleaning up the inside. Sometime this week the exterior will get painted.

Can anyone tell me where to get the clips that hold your dash pads to your dash? Mine is a 1971 with a build date of December 1970. I've checked Cruiser Corps, City Racer, CCOT, and others but haven't found them yet. I need 5, but would probably just replace them all if I can find them.

I don't see any clips on the parts diagram. If I'm interpreting the diagram correctly, there should be a metal piece running the width of the pad with captive nuts. There are 5 spacers that go into the dash pad holes and 5 screws that go into the captive nuts. This diagram is for a US spec 1969 through 1972 FJ40. Apologies but I can't recall if yours is US or elsewhere.
He's looking for #55496, in the lower right of the diagram. They are thin metal clips that slide into the square holes in the dash. The back of the pad has several unthreaded studs and the clips help hold the pad tight to the dash. Idk where you can find them, maybe sor or city racer.
Attached is a pic of the back side of my 01/72 showing the studs. Also shown is the part number from my Toyota microfiche for those clips. Maybe the p_n would help your search. Good luck

@timmyisinthewell - am I reading the microfiche correctly that there are 11 of those clips? I found them on ToyotaPartsDeal.com and I'm just going to go ahead and replace them all.
The upper pad was held on with the spacers & bolts, correct?

Those look like the correct clips.
Lower dash pad should be two piece as apposed to later stayle with radio cut out which is three pieces.
Toyota must call it a instrument panel instead of "pad" like we all do.

Toyota calls it "garnish" or safety pad. There are eleven of the clips, three on the small side and eight on the large side.
Sadly as a septuagenarian my grasp of technology has not advanced much beyond that.

Yep. It was difficult mentally and financially to see it go from having the tub painted to then taking it off the frame and discovering all the bad and having to blast it all off, repair all the hidden crap, and start over. Starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
