Said to say I've had these for about 2 years.
Now I'm ready to wire them up to Shane's seat heaters.
I found the 2 heat plugs under the console.
Is there a write up on installing these oak Toyota switches? There is a number on the side of the switch 985-3D83.
Thanks for any help.

I'm looking for install info. regarding the OAK colored switch. The wiring on the oak is not the same as others I don't think.

It's easy to figure out the switch wiring with a volt meter/ohm meter and a 9v battery. I just used those same switches with some aftermarket heaters. I found some suitable pigtails in the junkyard and used the existing seat heater harness under the console.

Ok,so I need suitable pigtails to wire up to my switches. Which ones?

Pull up the console and look to see if your harness has the plugs for heated seats. If it does, find a couple of pigtails to fit those plugs, or just splice your pigtails into the harness.

The connectors are under the console. The switches have 6 wires.
I really need to know which wires to connect to which?
Has some one done this install using these switches?

From what I remember, the white/black wire is the switch ground and the two green wires are for switch illumination. I believe the white/green is ground and the solid green is +.

The red and blues are your switched positive leads. One is the supply + and the other two are switched "LO" or "HI". It'll be really easy to determine which one is which with a volt/ohm meter.

Your other switch may have different color leads, but the pattern will be the same.

Where did you source the switches? I'm about to install new leather and heaters from Shane and I'm undecided on whether or not to go with a different swtich. Those obviously are perfect for an oak interior.

There out of a mid-late 90's Lexus ES300. You can find them on eBay or a junkyard.

OK got it. I had the part number written down and have looked on ebay but no luck. Lexus only carries that switch new in black; thus my confusion.

I guess it's junkyard or nothing.

Splangy, thanks for your help.
I bought them from someone on MUD about a year ago. They are a great match to the oak interior.

I just finally found some oak ones out of a 94 ES300, with the pigs for $20/pair. Going to wire them with Shane's kit this weekend. Putting on the new covers and seat heaters was like trying to wrestle 3 hobbits at the same time.

Seriously I just did the main crank pulley seal, oil pump seal, dist O ring, water pump, fanclutch, thermo, hoses, bypassed the PHH hose and replaced the radiator with an aluminum a few weeks back and to be honest I'd rather do that AGAIN that doing the seats again!

That being said I smile like a SOB every time I open the door. It is BY FAR, the SINGLE best investment you can make for the interior, everyone that has seen it has been wide eyed with amazement of how good Shane's stuff is, to say his stuff is spot on is an understatement, its FANeffinTASTIC!

Do you mind taking a few pics of the heat wiring before you toss the console back on?

Not at all just got the DS worked out now and tested with continuity before hooking up switch. Then hooked up switch turned key, turned to low while closing eyes and crossing fingers, got green light on switch and 12v on black/blue stripe on seat connector. Flipped to high and got amber light on switch and 12v on red/blue stripe.

I don't have the pig to the console so depending on how the night goes will make a molex or solder directly. I also put in the diode, I only had ones rated up to 400v fm 30A but they're RMS is 1A so I think they will OK, if anyone knows why they wouldn't please let me know.

Will post pics tomorrow, I want to at least button up the DS and test it out tonight!

GD Shanes leather is flipping nice, as much as a PITA it was I know it will keep me smiling long after I've forgot about all the other things I've done to this labor of love so far!

Can't wait to get into the heated seats and get them working. It's going to be cold.

Today doing some brake work with fellow Mud member Rami.
Within the last week and a half I've cleaned and undercoated some rust areas under the truck, and rehung the mudflaps after making new brackets to replace the ones that have rusted off. Also greased fittings and silicone sprayed every piece of rubber under the truck. Took the spare tire off and am having problems with getting the winch off to replace with another. Notready to toss $1k for a rear bumper/ spare holder yet. I hope my spare with the larger tire fits under.
I'm waiting for a call on my rims from a powder coating shop.
Then back on the road.;)

OK, FINALLY, they're done, they LOOK fantastic and work like a CHARM, this has been a long time coming. here are some pictures and I can also PDF my rough wiriing diagrams as well if needed.
I used th blue connector for the DS and the white for the pass. There isn't alot of room on the stock harness so since I'm always a fan of soldering unless impossible.

I removed the plugs from Shanes kit and slid them directly into the stock harnes on the seat, worked out well

Tested before going the distance, I was smiling once I knew they worked, O BTW ANY 1W Diode will work, just put it in line with the low off the switch with the stripe facing away from the switch.

The only thing that was a bit confusing was the two white with black stripes on them on the console PASS, so I nipped and soldered one wire at a time as not to get them confused.
The diode I used was rated PRV 400V / 1A / 30A meaning up to 400 volts it will do one amp and can not handle any more than 30 amps, minimum voltage was rated at 1.8.

Next project since I removed the rear heater when I installed amps is to take the existing wire and hook up an inverter that comes on when in HIGH on the switch and another AUX outlet when in LOW.

I now have 4 12VDC outlets in the front console and two in the rear. Pics to come. Blog started here but I haven't updated it lately but you can see the scope of work, personally I blame it all on Shane setting off my OCD but then thats what we that have it do! All I can say is this vehicle has been a labor of love like no other I've ever owned, simply said I had no idea how great a truck they were until I owned one.

I also forgot to add that I could not have done this without IH8MUD and all the members who contributed information.

Warezdog if you have that wiring diagram handy I'd like to take a good look at it.
