A lot of work but how is the block on the motor you pulled?

Still kicking around selling my 70 FJ40. Original owner I bought it from pulled the F155 for a 2F. Claimed the F was buying exhaust valve. Found a 2F that was pulled out new in 1975 for a V8 conversion. Last time I checked the serial number was about the third lowest on list in the sticky at the top of the 44/55 section. Other two were not in the US. The original owner's story lines up. He has since past away. The engine has run great the little I've driven in the eleven years I've owned it. After your experiences I'm leary to pull it in favor of a early F engine. I'm leaning towards if it ain't broke don't fix it. It does suck you want to move this one on to work I project you want to keep. I do not have any loose engines I know the history of. Probably going to gamble with a 2F I pulled from a 71 I parted out years ago. Compression numbers were all 150 PSI plus when I pulled it years ago. Have a FJ25, FJ40 and FJ45 that all have early 2Fs. I can understand why. They are a nicer running engine.

Can also check out Lock n' Stitch for the crack repair. Cummins 6BT "53" blocks had an issue where they developed a 3-5in crack that would weep coolant. Lock n Stitch seems to be the go-to fix to save the block. Shame to tear down a good engine to switch blocks.

Thanks for looking out. I may have talked with that guy already. Was the motor blue with silver valve cover?

I wanna fix what I have since it's a relatively fresh rebuild.

I have no desire to swap the motor again. I will sell it as is.......if it comes down to that.

A friend took a look at the crack last night. He suggested getting a professional welder to do the fix. It would be a permanent fix, so I may try that. I did some digging and it seems like a good option.
I’m not welder, but I’ve seen guys that could put a nice bead right down that crack, guessing it would have to burn pretty hot.
Would it cook anything in the immediate area?

I saw an F Motor on Facebook Marketplace in Phoenix.
Will somebody point to the motor on Facebook in Phoenix? I feel like I search every day but I somehow missed that.

I think if I remove the intake, header, and obviously the oil sender......there would be room to get it done.
Grind, drill holes at the end of the crack, pre heat, Nickel rod arc weld, peen, post heat.....and it should be good. I just need to find the right guy for the job.
I plan to make some calls tomorrow to hopefully find someone.

Sorry I am not a FBer. So, I don't have a link.
What are you looking for in a motor? Runner or rebuildable core? I got a few core motors.

Metal stitching. google Palo Verde KSV rod failure. The cooper KSV engines had a bad habit of failing articulating rods and pitching them out through the block. These are about 6 MW V20 diesel generators. That would make you soil yourself if you were in the diesel room when it happened.

Hope the welder works out buddy👍

I found my mobile welder. Actually a friend I know who owns a machine shop. I will get the motor ready and hopefully we can make it happen next week.

In the meantime.......went cruising some more. Working out any little issues too.

While waiting for the weld repair, I decided to start working on the next build. It will be a 40 to 45 pickup type conversion. The cab will be slightly stretched and the bed will be like a SWB bed but different dimensions.
After removing some PO sub frame dealy.....I cut out my donor frame sections.
