10 hours and the picture looks the same as last week.

Apply, sand, repeat, and repeat, and repeat, and repeat.

I remember those days all to well... Endless sanding over and over. The professional painter who was directing my sanding efforts just said "Yep!". And that is why paint jobs cost what they do. So much labor...

I spent another 4 hours on the roof to appease my 7 foot tall buddies. I think they'll be happy with the results. I wish it weren't so cold, I'd spray high build primer on it and continue to tweak it.

Instead I moved on to the hood. Had to cut out a couple of places. I'll be sure to spray rust inhibitor behind there when it's time.

I also decided I wasn't sold on the VW turn signals so I welded up the holes.

I really like the clean fender and I'll probably find some aftermarket option to put on the grill where the '69 had its marker light. Only problem is finding something that would look decent. I want to avoid just the standard utility trailer marker light there. Ideas are welcome.

Worst case, I can add turn signals to my bumper when I fab it.

NikP,

On the grille lights, do like Pablo did and use the side marker lights. Would have to wire for blinkers, but might work. You're putting a lot of quality work into it. Keep it going!

I bought some Viper EXT perimeter lights, dimensions without bezel- (L x H x W) 4.5” x 1.9” x 1.5” is just about the right size, they are extremely well built and very bright and you can buy them amber. I may at some point make billet bezels to give them an OEM appearance but for now I think I'll just mount them without.

Your pig looks fantastic and I have enjoyed watching the progress.

You have some mad shopping skillz!

Froze my butt off in the garage today. Decided to mix it up and bend up some brake lines.

Put my tubing straightener to use and it seemed to do what I needed. It's made from sliding door rollers mounted on two angle pieces.

So, that's set up to straighten 3/16 tube. What a great idea. I thought about buying one, but didn't. Do you just push/pull the tube through? Can you adjust to do 3/8th's fuel line?

I don't see why it wouldn't work for 3/8 fuel lines. It's just bolted together so pseudo adjustable for other material.

Tailgate Party in my garage today..

But not the tailgate party I was hoping for. I had a wicked dent in the upper section of the tailgate which affected the ridges and the valleys so it needed more than just body filler. It was impossible to get to with hammer and dolly so I cut the piece out and straightened it on the bench. After I got it where I wanted, I welded it back in place.

I then worked on getting the hinge screws out of the body. I had two of the six come out with an angle screwdriver but the others needed more torque. I didn't want to drill them so I was lucky by welding a bolt to the head of the screw. I was able to put a wrench on them and spin them out.

Wow.......well done!!

I've been thinking about either of these, but have to admit the smooth fender is enticing.

I'll probably find some aftermarket option to put on the grill where the '69 had its marker light.

Pulled the rear markers out of an 80 a few days ago and thought they may hold promise, albeit squarer, and the amber fronts for non-US 80s can be had here.

Thought about 70 series lights? I saw them mentioned in another build but I don't think they ever tried it. Might look neat while maintaining the clean fenders.

I thought I'd focus the forum discussion back to front turn signal lights. I cut holes to mount the Corolla KE20 lights.
I think they will work just fine. I need to check out parts to rewire with a two element light bulb but that's for another day.
