Do you know if it is possible to run the Sniper with the stock air filter and housing? I like the stock look.

It is possible, or at least will be. I’m working on air cleaner adapters right now.

Great to hear! I have considered FI as here in AZ we have mountains AND Deserts! Keep me in the loop. Any idea what the adapter will run?

Looking like $100-125 range for the FJ60. I need to get measurements for the different 40 & 55 air cleaners to see if those need to be a different height. If, so could change a little.

Also wondering if the stock throttle linkage could be used as having driven then with the cable/weber setup sucks! Thanks

You can also run a mr gaskett set.
A bit of modding and it works pretty well.

I run the lockar throttle cable set up and it works like butter! I used my stock gas pedal as well.

As soon as I receive my kit, I'll take any measurements you need on my 40 series air cleaner assembly.

The plastic adapters? That’s what we’ve used so far.

The downside is that they are flimsy & prone to leak, and require modifications to the air cleaner brackets to line things up.

The ones I’m working on will be offset to match the Sniper & the air cleaner will bolt on like stock.

I run the same throttle cable set up and it works great. I have not checked the mileage I just drive and enjoy it.

Cam if I can help in getting measurements from me truck for the air adapter let me know. I do want to keep the stock look

Not sure this belongs in another thread, or its own... Curious if these Sniper units are capable of handling turbo boost

There's a link in post # 151 in "this" thread.
EDIT..... Sorry that link was about the timing control. But the same guy, same 67 turbo Camaro, he has several videos tuning the Sniper with turbo.

They are, but there is a turbo-specific unit.

Here’s the air cleaner adapter prototype mentioned earlier. This works with the intake adapter in our kit if you retain the carb insulator and you are replacing a 5.8” tall carb w/ a 3” neck (only have an FJ60 carb in right now for dimensions, need some measurements of 40 & 55 carbs)

This addresses the height & size difference, as well as the offset center of the Holley.

The offset center, which would otherwise shift your air cleaner toward the firewall:

This has a nice o-ring on the base for a good seal without a gasket:

Next up was the temp sensor and o2 sensor.
The temp sensor has a 3/8 npt thread so I needed to get an adapter.
I will need to reinstall the original temp sensor soon.

What are the threads on the 2F head for the 3/8” NPT coolant sensor? I need to get an adapter too!

Also, when you say you “need to reinstall the original temp sensor,” do you mean the temp sensor for the gauge on the dash? Or is there another OEM temp sensor?

Threads in the head are 1/2" BSPT. On most BSPT to NPT comparisons the thread pitch is different and also the taper differs slightly.
1/2" however has the same pitch at 14 tpi. Although the taper is slightly different the 1/2 NPT works quite well. Just use a 1/2 x 3/8 npt brass bushing.

Getting ready to tackle this myself. By any chance do you have a picture of where you put your return line in the fuel tank?

This is how I mounted mine in my '77.

I used an Aeromotive Phantom fuel bulkhead kit.

I shopped around a variety of different vendors and kits and ultimately settled on this solution because it was compact enough for the fuel-pickup to mount in the lowest portion of the tank, and not interfere with any of the internal baffles or the fuel level float. It requires a 3.25" arbor for the bulkhead and a compact Dremel to remove the hardline return from inside the tank. Plus an oversized arbor for the tank cover (I think I used a 6" arbor). It will also probably require raising the passenger seat about 1" to clear the bulkhead. But I wanted to add adjustable sliders to the PS anyway, which should raise the seat. PM me if you have any questions.

Well guess what?

I just ordered another 2300 kit.

I'm going to try and install it on to my 64 single barrel manifold.

Wish me luck.

I'll create a new thread for it as well...

No biggie if it doesn't work out, it will be used on my next project. A 77 40 w/2f.
