I cant believe you just said that........I was just coming back to this thread to offer that opinion!!!!
And yes that would look seriously SICK!!!
Thats what I would do!!

What if I fabbed up a high lift mount to span that gap? I think that'd look pretty slick.

Hahahaha, nice. Great minds think alike, right Tom?

Hahahahahaha.

 What do you mean? You posted up tons of pics of you flexing Fiona in your thread.:hillbilly:

i was just piddlin around, not actually wheelin. tho i was quite impressed with how easy some of it was.

SOA = incredible. I really am glad that I skipped the SUA lift stage in my truck's life. I hope to climb over some real gnarly boulders at the FJNE Northeast Run this weekend. We'll see!!!

yea i agree it is awesome, SUA i was pretty capable and got around pretty easy but now it takes less driver input (and even less with the ram assist). lol the lockers, swampers, and spring over are gonna make me lazy with being able to just point at something and go over it and not having to actually figure out a line for the stuff around here.

hahaha

Yeah, you have a couple more upgrades than I do. If I had a locker out back and bigger tires I'd probably be able to do the same thing, lol. I think once I get a locker in the rear with a toybox installed, that's the way it's gonna stay for a long time. Basically emulating CaliCruiser's rig.

I would like a bit more width though. I've been contemplating running IFS hubs front and rear with Sky's Widening kit to get another couple inches of width. Should be a bolt on operation and I would get rear disks out of the deal too. Gotta think that over some more:grinpimp:

You still bringing your pile to Rubithon this year?

Regarding the rear widening, I would start to look around for a 14 bolt you can offset. Then you can get wider and stronger at the same time. No sense doing that twice.

The IFS hub thing up front looks like an easy option, I may do that especially after CaliCruiser's flop last year at Dusy.

what is the point of the IFS hubs? just dont stick out as far so less likely to get busted off on a rock?

If you use the IFS hubs (not the lock out), it moves the wheel out about 1.5 inches roughly. You need to remount the caliper as well.

I've not done this, but did give it some thought.

I'd love to do a 14 bolt, but I don't have the resources or $$ to build one of those beasts, nor am I running tires big enough. I'm only running 35's and I think my FF rear will work great for years to come, especially if I upgrade to bigger dowels, studs and PP shafts.:grinpimp:

Like Andy said, they provide more offset than the stock hubs. I believe the FF rear hubs are the same as the front hubs so I could theoretically do this conversion to the front and rear, netting 3" width on both axles.

As for Rubithon, I'd love to but I'm not sure if that's in the cards yet. I've got an interview on Friday so that will have an effect on whether or not I can do it. I'll let y'all know if I am, for sure.

I thought about that for my 40 rear FF. Can't do ifs hubs there because the FF hub body is longer than the ifs outboard of the bearing races (about a 1/2" difference or so). At least it is on the old FF, don't know about the later ones like the 60 used.

mmmmmmmmm..... I'll have to get a set of IFS hubs and compare them to my 60. It seems that could be fixed with a custom set of inner shafts:hhmm:

Would another 1/2" of shaft sticking into the diff make a big difference anyway?

I don't remember the exact length difference to be honest, but it makes up the difference in length of the outer retaining nut and the axle shaft seal. Maybe some custom shafts with 30 spline drive flanges you'd be fine.

Friday I did some work on moonshine. Replaced a bunch of old vacuum lines, disabled the EVAP system and tuned the carb a bit. Now she idles and gets slightly better mileage. Also "finished" my exhaust system with some flexi pipe that exits out from under the driver's rear quarter. Makes the truck infinitely quieter, not sure why I didn't do this a long time ago.

FJNE Northeast Run was this weekend and it was a blast. I wheeled with a bunch of the guys from GCLC and had a great time running a couple of black trails at Rausch Creek. Thanks to Pete for setting that event up!

One of the two 'incidents' of the day. Rich lost a tail light:

OB lost a drain plug in his rear diff. He then invented the "Duct Tape Diff" we made with a makeshift expansion plug and a bunch of duct tape. Booyah ingenuity.
