I saw the first day of Relic Run next month! Gonna let the rear tires self clearance?
Nah, I'm gonna fix the rear quarters before then.

Because you need extra fuel

Back in the healing room for some suspension R&R.

Pneumatic jacks slap, so do sunnex 10t jack stands. If you don't have these tools, get them. Spring pins are stretched so new ones are going in.

Finally fixed the trail repair from a few years ago. Want your 4" piece of upper radiator hose back @cruisermatt ?. Flexible is good for radiator hoses.

I’ve seen those air jacks on Amazon and considered them. My hydraulic jack is near retirement
I have a vevor brand one. It's wicked fast when fed 150psi of air. Very controllable too, both up and down.

Only hiccup is that the inner telescoping alignment thingy gets a little sticky if it's not lifting straight up. Not bad, but I did notice a slight hitch when lowering one time.

Terrible picture, but the passenger side wheel well has been trimmed, welded up, and ground back. Just need to paint it with something, maybe undercoating? Other side tomorrow. Shouldn't cut up the tire. With this and the lift from adding the overloads back in the rear, it should have decent clearance now. Cutting any more than this will be dramatically more work.

Ordered the wrong length ubolts sunday, new ordered this AM overnight, so hopefully those come in tomorrow.

Had more time in the afternoon than expected, so the driver side is done now too. Gonna shoot some primer and undercoating then move on to the next item on the punch list.

Stoked with how they came out.

I used to screech and break spring bots until I started using grade 8 bolts as center pins. I round the head down.

I do something similar, but use gr12.9 socket head cap screws in the coarse 3/8" variety. No grinding necessary.

Replacement ubolts got delayed till Monday (screw FedEx) so I threw some undercoat on. Don't love it, but it'll work. Door was fresh in this Pic.

Tore into the front today. One of the d60 spring bolts snapped, which is super fun. Drilled it out, won't extract yet. Hoping to get it out this weekend.

The broken bolt refused to comply. Extractors didn't get it, welded it back shut then went through about 10 welded nuts, that all broke the weld. So, I did what any reasonable land cruiser nut would have done.

Gantry crane, tool cart, mill, furniture dolly, and sheer force of will. I made that broken bolt my bitch. Used a combo of carbide center cutting end mills, hss end mills, drills and picks, then once I got enough of it out, a tap. Feels good man.

After succeeding, I got it back under the truck, about 11:30pm Saturday. Took a few shots of tequila to celebrate. Hoping to get the front end buttoned back up tomorrow, we will see.

Now THAT's determination.........and a lot of anger I would think. Good thing you didn't have to pay a shop for that. It probably would have been cheaper to get another axle. ;)

Easy justification for having a mill. "Honey, it would have cost me at least a few hundo and a few days to get a shop to do this, that's why I have a mill. See, I'm saving money here!"

Lol
