Haven't done much to Moonshine this year. Have been focusing on building a new trailer to tow her around with. You can read about that here.

Brought her up to GSMTR this past week. We had fun.

Moonshine gets loaded inside that trailer. Super easy.

Bonus shot of me piloting "Hatchet", @AJR 's chopped 80 on 41s. What a riot that truck is.

@GLTHFJ60 the smile on your face in the last picture describes Wind Rock perfectly. Hope the trip was epic.

the Elbow and 44 look like a ball. Next time.

Had some fun at CMCC with the GCLC boys and my bro @SFROMAN . This first set of pictures is at AOAA.

Got quite a bit of body damage. Most annoyed with the rear rain gutter. First time I recall getting damage on my rain gutters, and I got two different sides on this one trail

Powered through all of that, then did rock creek and a few other blues/blacks/reds.

4d2s!! Although Del's 40" competition trepadors make me want those. Holy crap do those tires work.

Went down to Lake Christie for a little trip down memory lane. Seems way smaller than last time I was here in 2009

@SFROMAN this is what I did in 2009 in that spot

Only hiccup was that the front shift rail push-pull cable snapped as I was shifting back to 2wd after returning to the mainland. Not a big deal to pop the case into 2wd, but definitely annoying. Cables have been in there for 3 years, so not too bad. Might try to tweak the bracket a little to get the cable alignment more perfect. Northwest fab coming in clutch with a new pair of cables shipped out today.

Are those the same cables that you had? Lucky that happened then and not out four wheeling. At the least you have the old ones to figure out how to beef them up. Looks like you had a great time! Campfire on the beach, can't get better than that.

Yup, same cables. Wouldn't be a huge deal if one broke on the trail, just a bit dirtier to shift, having to do it from underneath. Also, I bought a pair of new ones, so I'll have a spare from here on out.

In my most recent storage/sleeping system design, I integrated a 7gal water tank. I never plumbed it up, but wanted it done for the beach trip documented above. Got it rigged up, but there was a leak somewhere, and I ran out of time to fix it.

The one downside of the water tank location is that it's directly underneath the sleeping platform in the center of the truck, with no hatch above it, so it's not super accessible. This weekend I pulled the sleeping platform out to get at the water tank.

From the back of the truck:

You can see my pex solution that had a leak somewhere, lol.

1631555579470.png

I pulled the tank out, swapped the pex connections for vinyl tubing (much more flexible) and stuck a 90* fill on. I did a leak test outside of the truck with the tank full for a few hours, and didn't identify any leaks. With fingers crossed, I stuck it in the truck, and ran the vent line a few feet higher up in the c-pillar than I had the pex before.

Vent line:

1631555799248.png

Fill was shortened slightly to make sure it was flush with the top of the sleeping platform. Came out pretty slick.

While I was in there, I opened up this compartment in front of the fridge. I had originally planned on putting in a hatch, but the rabbit style I had used for the electronics hatches wouldn't work because of the limited space on the outside edges, not to mention the screws. So, I just cut it open with a drill flush trim router bit, then rounded the upper edge. Worked out great, and this holds most of the random camping s*** that was floating around in the rig. Hi-lift foot, sleeping bag, tiny solo pit, rainjacket, hoodie, towel and sunscreen. This stuff stays in the truck 100% of the time, so it's nice to finally have a dedicated space for it.

This little rv filler bayonette thing is bad ass for filling the tank. Flexible so it snakes down the elbow into the tank, and it has a shutoff right there. Makes for a spill-free fill, which is important, considering that my electronics hatch is right there, lol.

Had a hell of a time at Logan's Run this past weekend. Moonshine did great. Only hiccup was that I blew a fuse on my cooling fan circuit, which was odd, but it turned out I put a 20a fuse on that 30a circuit for some reason. Not a big deal, new fuse and I was back in business.

HUGE thanks to Darren @White Sheep for taking these killer photos!!!

Went up to Fall Crawl near Gore, VA this past weekend with @Fort Knox @AJR @SFROMAN @jamesurq and @mwalls54 to hit some trails. We played in a SICK rock garden for about 4 hours the first day, then some greens/blues/blacks/reds the second day until we encountered some technical difficulties

Thanks to @Stumpalama, @afgman786 and others for putting on Fall Crawl!! Killer event boys, and epic park. We'll be back for sure.
