The Sickness Continues

Prepped the front axel to weld side axel shock mounts and HA bracket. Test fitted HA ram and checked stroke for clearances, all is a go. I can truly blame IH8MUD for feeding this sickness:flipoff2: I'm going to have to go to therapy three times next week:D

Axel Shock Mounts

Got the side axel shock mounts welded on and painted. Gained about 3-4" of droop travel and the shock is in a better position to utilize shock travel more effectively:cheers:

That's exactly where my shock mounts are on my front axle. I wonder if you'll have clearance issues with it set up like that.

so given this "lift kit" whats required to get it fully functional?...ie drivable.. Beyond the "nuts & bolts" of the kit what else is required to get on on the road or on the trail?

If you are talking about not going crazy like me, then I would say to get a functional running truck the only issue would be the front DS longer slip and notching the transfer case crossmember on late model trucks (with spacer in the tranny, same length as 5-speed) mid 85 and later. On early 60's to early 85 (without the spacer in the tranny) you don't have to mod the crossmember. If you install springs with the SR you should still consider a longer slip on the front DS if you want to utilize the articulation as well as keeping your DS from separating or shoving into the transfercase under hard use. All that being said if you limit articulation and travel you prolly don't have to do anything beyond installing the kit. Hope that helps? My .02 :)

I was wondering the same thing. Until this, I thought with the exception of the SR work, this bolts on. Kinda threatening me a little me to the point of going with Kurt asap.

Either way, you are doing a kick ass job and I'm jealous of the time, money and knowledge you have to make such a great set up. Keep it up.

Can you take pictures of the angle of the ram in relation to the tie rod when turned all the way left and all the way right? I'm curious to see how the angle changes as the steering cycles.

The ram axle mount looks perfect.

Back at it Today

Well got a bunch of little stuff done:) Went to Deaver Off Road Suspension and got my extended u-bolts bent up while I waited! Great Company with great service! So I remounted the front axel on the springs with new u-bolts and will cut to length. Now I don't have to worry about slightly too short u-bolts on the front axel. This is my only complaint of the kit during assembly. When you add caster shims to the front axel the u-bolts on the fat side of the shim tends to be short and not clear the nut which I prefer. Got the hardware to mount the HA ram and shocks to the lower axel mounts. Some pics are for the benefit of GLFJ60.:cheers:
