Fast forward all this BS tech.

Does the 4.4 liter 2F live up to all the hype?

Well I drove up highway 51 in Patina until I passed an uglier vehicle.

We switched seats and I got a nice drive in the Delta Beast. It felt damn strong.

Patina is no slouch. New motor. @FJ40Jim carb. Dui distributor. Headers. 4 speed.

Always pulls strong and feels good.

I was not expecting to win the race but I also wasn’t expecting the rape on Grenada Lake dam that I received

Jeez, I wasn’t expecting that either! Awesome.

Not me either. I promise you my 40
Isn’t weak either. I just took it 800 miles towing a loaded trailer. Didn’t skip a beat.

It was my understanding that we were racing for keeps, so I was disappointed that Patina didn’t come home with me

The last thing on the list was to log several hours of varied test miles so we can get the first oil change out of the way before handing it back over to @ducksntrout

Today was the absolute perfect day to do it. Perfect 40 weather. Bluebird skies, temps staring out in the 30s and quickly warming to almost 60.

It made the 200-something mile trip without skipping a beat. Even jumped on the interstate for the last 20 miles and kept up (and passed) traffic! 4th gear pulls hard to as high as you dare take it (I stopped at 80).

The Delta Beast eats up the road now. Passing slow cars, bombing the hills, whatever. It’ll do it.

Here’s a 0-60 run with the new Cop Motor:

I’m at 14* now and wondering how much higher I could go before it pings.
I’m out of the timing window on 89 and it still won’t knock on my truck.

I think the solution is to shave the head more!

I wanted to, but my machinist wouldnt let me. He was very no bs about the refresh. Just knocked out 30,000 miles of daily driving on this original shortblock 306,000 mile 2F.

Maybe he was right.

Ah but you will never know!

I’m fully willing to accept that I may start the truck one day and it blows up on the spot.

I won’t even be mad.

Scored a near perfect fiberglass top for the Delta Beast complete with a very nice headliner.

After hunting season this and some sound deadening will make this baby a real road driver.

@FJ60Cam and @wngrog, Now that its all buttoned up, how much would a guy need to put back to have his 2F get the same treatment (i,e the 4.4L with Sniper EFI? Looks like I would have to rob a bank.

A lot. I’ll let you know in my Pig thread. It’s going down and I’ll have better numbers on a self install for you.

I don’t know. A 40 that can do a legitimate burnout should have a leaky roof.
