CLR scrub complete and layer 1 of Penetrol applied. This stuff is pretty yucky. It self levels on flat surfaces but on verticals I’ve got lots off streaks to deal with.

Moving on to the underside……

Up in the air.

A little paint in the fenders and on the rear axles where there was some chaos going on. Then it got the full Fluid Film bomb. See the haze in the shop after

While it was up in the air I did fluid checks and changes. Greased up the OME suspension. Checked drivetrain bolt torques and cut the damn Ubolts off (pet peeve)

Added a big boi filter to the OG Mosley Cop motor car with some Zinc infused 20/50.

Worn out. 8 straight and it’s gotta dry some so I can add more Penetrol.

Added another layer of Penetrol. I’m pretty happy with how this it turning out for this pile….

I’ll likely add another coat tomorrow and then Wednesday and call it quits.

Picking up some glorious new parts for Delta Beast on Thursday from Mosley Motors. Stay tuned 🙌

So @FJ60Cam is working on some secret stuff in the ALIEN LAB while the rest of us sleep soundly at night.

Last week we had a meeting about two other massive projects Mustard 2.0 and The 1FZ FJ45

While I was there I stumbled through a portal in the bathroom and found a jumble of fuel lines and blocks of aluminum and some people working on them

I found myself in a portal into the future.

They zapped my brain like in Men In Black.

I was asleep on my feet out in the main shop. I had no idea until I saw this photo.

I woke up just as Beno was rattling off the part number to some of ignition coil for a 1FZ……

So, to back up a bit. This was one of the first Snipers that was installed at Mosley Motors. This thing has always run like a scalded beast but last year it developed a quirk that no one that monkeyed with it could dial out. It would die after driving it long distances as you came off the gas to say, exit a highway. Not only would it die but it would also not start back up without a lot of cranking.

I fix issues like this by putting new parts on the truck.

I was planning on just swapping out the 2300 Holley for a new one when it occurred to me what I had seen in the portal.

Those were fuel lines and adapters for something and it damn sure was not a Holley 2300.

Once I figured it out I had to get back in the portal to make off with the goods.

I tossed out a random question about part numbers to Beno and in no time everyone in the shop was fast asleep while he rattled off numbers and I made it for the portal

So now I have this big box of stolen parts and I make a break for Tilda Bogue.

I got into the pile today and started sorting out what I had.

Once I got everything sorted out I stripped out all the old crap. Especially the battery box and wiring.

Sniped ….

Now to figure out how all this stuff fits together …..

Gold snipers are usually the last on my list but for the Delta Beast, nothing is more fitting than a gold toofs

So now gotta figure out the fat stacks yo (currently rewatching Breaking Bad)

All I really know is that the top adapter has threaded holes to make yourself a throttle plate. That needs to point to the driver fender so I gotta stack these to fit that way

6FE94E17-FC6B-48DB-B39C-216808EE639B.webp

Start with a clean intake yo. Wire brush that thing nice and clean.

67443854-50C8-40E8-9D2E-04CDC3B4EFA5.webp

The first adapter takes a standard Toyota carburetor gasket between it and the manifold. I use Permatex aircraft sealant on both sides of the gasket. Cap head bolts attach to the intake. My intake happened to have a couple of 5/16” helicoils but luckily I had the proper ones here to keep moving.
5E8B00E3-3130-4C3E-9351-D36256086494.webp

Fat stack two…..Cam has a custom gasket to go between these two. Since I stole this setup under the cover of burrito, beer and Beno sleep I had to make my own. I traced it out. Stuck my 9mm out the door and squeezed off a round and use the casing to punch the 4 needed holes. Again with the aircraft sealant.
E7B16BE5-9ED4-4D3E-970B-64B38903EB56.webp

I don’t use any cement on the last gasket below the sniper. I usually trust those surfaces and it makes it easy to remove the Sniper if need be.

So at this point I was like a teenager that had snuck dads truck out and got it stuck.

I had these random hard lines and goofy fittings and line separators and I could not figure out what was what so I had to begrudgingly send a message back to the lab and admit what I had done and request guidance.

After a brief scolding Cam settled down and broke it down from Rocket Scientist to dumb ass drug rep. These lines are prescison bent to hug the valve cover and exit down by the oil filter. I mocked them up off the truck and got myself another fat stack and then moved it to the motor.
F068D593-F0C6-484D-AB6A-D103E0297649.webp

Once in place THEN you attach them to the sniper itself. All pretty like. Don’t get in a hurry. They fit but again. This is rocket science.

The air cleaner on the Delta Beast is some non-US jobber so it sat a little high on the Sniper itself but I was able to dig up this trick SPACER via @Racer65 that made the air cleaner line up just right. (Not pictured but you see the gap). Go ahead and stock one of THESE while you are on the City Racer site to get a nice airtight fit with or without the spacer

With Spacer. Fits nice and level.
CC2979CE-4C61-4A72-9379-88057C57FD55.webp

Cam used an FJ60 to make the template for this set of lines so the output had them pointing at the base of the battery tray but I was able to put a slight bend in them to clear the tray and tie nicely in with the feed and return lines.

Fitment done. Now we wire.

@wngrog @FJ60Cam So what are benefits of the 2GC over the 2300 that all seem to have been using recently to go EFI? Youre still just throwing new parts at it, but different parts this time. Is there a flaw in the 2300 system that pushed you away from it?

Thanks,

Thanks,

I asked the same thing. There was no clear answer except the fact the patron saint of rocket science @FJ40Jim hates the big mouth air cleaner adapters that go from 2300 to Toyota. I think Cam is doing this as a sacrificial lamb to the one with initials JC that was born on December 25th.

Two items down.

One. PCV. We lost the OEM base plate to run the PCV hose. With the F manifold that’s what you got. Since I may or may not have disturbed JimC from his hibernation I made sure to pipe the PCV into the base of the sniper. Not the side of the manifold.

Holley provides this bung as an option. They say it for the brake booster but that vacuum is fine to pull from the side of the intake (where it currently is)

Next. Throttle cable. This style air cleaner won’t allow a front pull using the threads in the adapter Mosley provides. The canister is in the way. A later 2F style is what that’s designed for. This truck already had a bracket made for the 2300 that all I had to do was clock it and drill one hole and boom. Full pull.

I ran the Lokar mount ball on the inside of the bracket and it all lined up nicely.

Wrong Way Ben @BenjaminCA has a video of a bracket he made that pulls from the firewall if anyone is interested in that for the F intake. Uses the same holes it just pulls to the firewall with a shorter cable. This is the way I’ve done all mine so it’s what I know to work.

Appreciate the shout, although it’s Douggie’s (Freutel) design. It was a group effort maybe… solid work Nolan.

Got under the truck and replaced the O2 sensor and added this little guy. If your O2 is too close to the header it can heat up and kill it. This thing backs it off and will still give the proper reading. Holley recommends 8” past collector and at 45* up. Any “up” orientation is best. Anything tilted down is prone to having moisture collect in it and kill.

Got under the truck and replaced both fuel filters. Now I smell like gas.

Here is how the Beast looks until my new battery wires arrive tomorrow from @Fourrunner. He makes the best kits. Cleaning up the wiring was my #2 priority after getting the Sniper swapped out.

Aight. Calling it a day/weekend on the Delta Beast. Eliminated those big ass chrome rearview convex mirrors.

Box-o-Beno ships tomorrow to get this one finished up.

The Penetrol has set up very nicely. Hard as a rock now. Pretty amazing.
