Don,

No doubt about that, she'll drive fine, but with my style of camping (bring everything I own) the wagon gets heavy. I figure with the larger tires and overdrive I'd go with the 4:10 gears, not so much for highway driving, but dirt roads, etc. You probably won't feel the difference between the two. I'd listen to Georg, he knows what he's talking about. You also have the 2F which a low end grunt machine where as the LS motors not so much.

did some more cleaning on floors today, as i cleaned rust area between back seat and cargo area, holes began showing up(surprise!) not really. rest of floors look good in that area, suggestions?

while i ignore holes in floor for awhile, Nolen got me curious about my tailgate, so today as I wait for some rust materials to apply, I open cover on tailgate. I have never opened one to find this. was this factory or a PO? any ideas?

While I never bought a new pig, I did buy a 76 in the mid 80's and it didn't have that plastic nor did my other two. That said, tailgate problems can pop up early in life, so who knows. Also, I'm not sure what purpose it would serve.

its like hermetically sealed, but will bust open tomorrow

Oh come on, you're probably wondering what the old grease looks like in the gear box or if the plastic gear is starting to crack. Fix it now before it breaks on the trail and you can't get the window up in the rain storm. Take it all apart, clean, throw in that new gear, new terminal block, re-grease and done! :) Just kidding, button it up and pray to the cruiser gods it never craps out.

Don’t forget about cadmium plating all the components and giving it the Super Lube treatment!
