Just read though the whole thread.. Awesome work all around!! Just curious, how do you know how to do so many things?! It's awesome

just an awesome write up and great build all around. Very cool seeing you build the cruise control setup.

I've got the same rear frame rust and didn't even think about just ripping it apart and replacing. Didn't even know the rear frame would come apart like that.

Not looking forward to it.

Thanks for keeping us updated.

Thanks... The cruise control modifications were a lot of fun..

For me the rivets in the rear frame was the most time consuming thing I have done on this project. I have removed rivets on other vehicles before with any issues, but these are a little tougher. Just block out enough time, and attack them one at a time...

Good luck with the frame repair and be safe.

Thank you... How do I know to do so many things? I am old I guess! To be honest none of the things I have done to this build are that difficult. This board and others like it have a great deal of knowledge and knowledgeable people on them. Research is the key to completing some of this stuff..

Once again thank you..

Your welcome. And I ask because I could probably figure most things out, but I'm always in awe of people who make it look so easy!

Time for another update.. It has been a couple of months.. I have made some progress…

Adding tubing to the bumper.

Installed longer shackles to correct a little bit of a stinkbug look. I still need to paint or plate them.

Update continued

My radiator had a small leak so I decided to move to an aluminum radiator. It lowered my temperatures several degrees. Seems to really make a difference on long hills and when towing.

That brings me up-to-date.. I started on installing some new seats from a 2004 land rover, not a direct fit for sure, but I got a great deal on them and I like the way they look. All power and heated. I will post from photos soon.

Lookin' good!

I must have missed it earlier in the thread... is this your transmission cooler?

Does it also run through an internal radiator cooler? What kind of transmission temps do you see (if you monitor them) vs the ambient temps?

Yes that is the Trans cooler.. It is routed through the radiator trans cooler. Last night I drove about 200 miles and the trans temp was 155 to 165 ambient was 70..

Where did you get the radiator? Looks really good.
What is that fitting on the upper hose?

Now I went through the whole thread. couple of questions.
rear bumper latch: where did you source it? How $?
You painted the whole rear bumper without the swing arm spindles. Are they not welded in? However you did it, then please post pic
of inside of bumper as to how you have them installed.
What combination of upper hoses did you use, my 12HT is on the same outlet side as the 3.5, so you have shown me a way of
replacing my rad now that is really hard/impossible to find with the outlet on the upper RH side.
What is the thing inserted on the upper rad hose?

Superb workmanship, sets a standard to try to emulate. J

Thanks for the complement ...

I found the latch on ebay

http://www.ebay.com/itm/DE-STA-CO-3...365?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item339727e57d

It is a DE-STA-CO latch.

The spindles bolt in.. I will try to get some pictures.
I used a upper hose off of a 2005 Chevy Silverado (Donor Engine) and a stock hose for the FJ62. The lower hose is a universal hose, it works really well. The thing in the hose serves 3 purpose 1 - It adapts the Chevy hose to the Toyota hose (1 3/8 to 1 1/2 I think) 2 - Stream Vent - The LS engine uses a stream line that should be vented to the highest level in the cooling system 3. Air Vent - it has a air vent on top to help to prevent air lock.

Ok, I have sourced them close to home with your pic. I'll hope the price is close, at least I have a marker to work with.
If you bolted the spindles in, then I'm really interested. I've been driving 3 yrs without a spare, but have a long trip planned, so
now needed. But I don't believe in carrying the weight always. What ever you have done will be an inspiration for me.
I'll look up that steam/air vent. Not ever seen one before, is it a GM part?

The steam/air vent adapter is from JAGSTHATRUN..

Amazing, thanks. I'm driving up to Stockton tomorrow, so I can stop by and probably pick up the coolant sight glass right from them. This one of the most useful add-ons I've seen in a long time.
Very cool.
