Making new oil lines for early FJ40? (1 Viewer)

Hey Guys,

I am looking to have some oil lines made for my 40 and wanted to know how to go about doing this.

I took these into a local hose shop and they scratched there head because of the fitting threads and pressure fitting ( i think thats what it is) wasnt familiar/wasnt on the shelf.

Anything you think I can tell them to make this job easier for them to comprehend? Also, do you think disassembling the old fitttigs from the hose and bringing them in will help? FYI, I am bringing them to a local Parker shop.

The problem is I need them to be a little longer than what SOR offers as I mounted the bracket in a different spot.

I thought you could unscrew the male end from the block, then get a matching adaptor and hose end.

One of our local NAPA stores makes custom hydraulic lines.
They were able to take my old lines and carefully remove the ends to assemble with new hoses.
It's probably a matter of having the luck of talking to the right person.

The guy who did mine let me know up front that the outcome was not guaranteed.
If he nicked the fittings while cutting off the crimped sleeves, they would not be useable.
I happily assumed the risk to get them to attempt it and everything worked out fine.
The charge was about $25 for the pair and they even located some old-school braided jacket hose so they look original.

I can see that a lot of places would hesitate to offer in order to avoid the potential risk of dealing with an unhappy customer.

Thanks, JohnnyC! Do you know if the fittings that goes into the block is the same threads as the ones in the fuel pump?

So I was able to get exactly what I wanted after going to two different Parker Hose shops.

Here's the short story... I brought my original fittings in hoping to go to steel braided lines and the guy said smugly "we dont have any fittings like that" when I showed him which end attaches to the block. I told him I was looking to have a more permanent connection instead of attaching to the original fitting setup. He grabbed the cheapest hose he could find, took my fittings, crimp fastened them, and then charged me $30 bucks ($20 for 5 min of labor).

I left but felt like there had to be a better solution. As I was headed from my home in Sacramento to San Francisco yesterday, I remembered there was another Parker store on the way. So I stopped in and a dude who appeared somewhat new spent 5 minutes talking about what I was trying to accomplish while going through the old parts I provided. He immediately looked at the original fitting that connected to the block and said "this is 1/8 BSPT". He grabbed a new fitting 1/8 BSPT to JIS fitting. This would allow me to easy convert to a traditional thread. He also provided 10mm banjos as well for the other end. He cut some lines, connected everything together and double checked everything. This guy took great pride in his work and I thanked him like 5 times. I could tell he was proud of himself as he should have been.

In this picture you will see the black hoses the grumpy dude gave me, and then also the newer setup the helpful dude gave me. He even gave me a discount because of the service I received from the original shop.

I went with steel braided because I am running headers btw.

Parker made them for me. Used the part number above to convert from BSPT to JCI(-AN) and some M10 Banjo fittings. Pics below(beginning the rescue of this truck with a budget from a lot of POs, not a lot of my work in the pics)
