Got my mini H1 brackets today - well packaged! Headlights are out of the LX and plan on baking tomorrow - installing the wiring first.

Amy tips for removing the current projector? Do I need to bend a 10mm open end wrench?

No you will not need to bend a wrench. The first thing you want to do is remove the combination adjuster on the back of the housing. It adjusts both the high and low beams simultaneously that way you can turn the adjusters for the low beams separately
to remove the lower attachment point of the OEM bracket.
You also want to remove the round cover that protects the upper adjustment bolt using a small screwdriver.
With a 8mm socket you can easily spin off the upper attachment point
With both attachment points released turn your headlights over and you will be able to access the two screws that hold on that final attachment point.
With the projector removed you can easily access that 10 mm bolt and remove it.
You also want to remove the ball snap because you're going to replace it with the ones that I sent you.
Removing the combination adjuster is essential to you aiming and adjusting your headlights which will require you to adjust them remove them adjust them and remove them until you get them right

Now to the installation

You will need to bore out the hole for the ball snap using a 7/32 inch drill bit and install the new ball snap

You'll need to separate the lens projector fame from the projector bowl
Bolt the projector bowl to the back of the bracket once that's done you can reinstall the lens frame from the front side of the bracket

When installing the bracket into the housing turn the adjustment screws to tighten the bracket
I'd start with about a half an inch of thread sticking out of the bracket and then once you have the two attachment points in the last thing you do is just push on the coupler and It will snap on the ball snap

I found that baking the lights for 9 minutes at 285 makes the glue separate easier. As you're pulling the lens off the glue will tend to stretch and just slice through it with a screwdriver or razor blade but you will invariably get glue on pieces of the chrome shroud during the removal
Once you have the lens off take a flat head screw driver and smooth out the remaining glue that's in the track of lens housing it'll give you a somewhat level base for reinstalling the lenses with additional glue

The only way you'll ever remove glue from the shroud is balling up a piece of the glue and just keep sticking it to the glue that's on the chrome it will take a while but it will come off... it's extremely sticky and will remove the residue easier as it cools down to room temperature

I can't wait to see the big grins on your faces
the first time you fire up your lights and drive down the street with these new projectors. Little statement on my website I said "you will find reasons to go out and drive at night"
Good luck with your installs.... you guys have my number feel free to call me with any questions anytime.

One pair is all that's needed. The projector you're installing is a high and low beam and you simply attach a splitter from the OEM highbeam connector to the highbeam side of the projector so when you flip on your highbeams your halogen highbeam will come on and the highbeam in the projector will also come on.

Got it. Just ordered a pair.

In another post folks are mentioning "quads". Does that mean they're putting two sets of H1's in their truck? Meaning they would buy two pairs?

Also, just to confirm, this will work on a 2003 LX470?

Nice work, I can appreciate a good engineering project!

Thank you

The quad setup does mean two projectors but only requires one pair of brackets.
It also brings into play another level of skill
and also another set of lights just to play with in case you screw anything up which I've done.
I'm working on a quad set up using the matchbox projector which is very small and fits but I'm also trying to see if I can get the H1 in the highbeam location but requires a shroud. I'm not sure if I can find a shroud that will fit and look good.
My suggestion would be to go ahead with a single projector and if myself or one of the other guys comes up with a easy solution to put a second projector in you'll only need to open up the highbeam side of the light to do
that. I'm also getting a price from Lightwerkz
a retrofit company
to do the single conversion using my bracket for anyone not comfortable doing the retrofit

Please remember guys I am also a newbie when it comes to retrofitting I just came up with the idea to build a bracket.
Its easy to open the lights and install the bracket with a projector but you also want to make sure that when you seal the lights back up that they are watertight and moisture tight and that the rear cap which has to be modified also is watertight including the wires that come out of the back so you get zero moisture. So if you're not comfortable with that using a professional retrofit company to finish the lights up may be the route for some.
I would definitely recommend that you guys watch videos on the retrofit process there's tons of them on the Internet for tips on resealing your lights.
Also www.hidplanet.com a forum is another great source of information

The bracket fits all model years of the LX470

Luke, are the DS2 plate available?

Not yet, I'm having them recut, they needed a very small change ... they should be available in 2 weeks or less

If anyone was debating whether or not to put an additional video together while they do their Mini install, I would love some guidance as headlights will be a new venture for me. I can pay you in form of a 6-pack.
