Last one. Everything adds up and bearings are #4 on all.

Dropped off the block at the machine shop today for honing, bath, and light decking. The bath is warm water with soap. No aggressive chemical to destroy the oil pump bushing. Maybe I should replace it while I am here if @landtank or anyone else has any available.
Bearings, rings, and head bolts arrived today. I decided to replace all bearings.
I am hoping to get the head and block back by the end of the week to start assembly.

look at the inside of the oil pump bearing, you will likely see uneven wear on one side. My bearings mimic the factory bearing with a radial groove around the center and a diagonal groove leading to the front to lubricate the contact area between the block and gear. Not sure if others are also machined that way.

You are right about the wear. There is some visible. Looking forward to replacing it with the one you fabricated. Thank you!

Found the clip that is missing on radiator shroud and is responsible for securing the transmission cooler hose.

Flushed both the front and rear heater cores. I first used warm tap water to push out what ever was left followed by a distilled water flush and finished off with 50/50 red coolant. The final coolant rinse was dazy chained from one to the other to minimize waste. I used a drill powered pump to control flow and pressure. I did not want to over pressurize the system and cause any leaks.

I am going to pickup the block and head from the machine shop tomorrow.
@landtank is shipping me an oil pump bushing. Once I get it, I will start assembly. Thank you, Rick!

This is me inside the engine compartment.

Quality work as always! You have made a lot of progress since last I saw the project.

I cleaned all of the pistons using Chem-Dip for 24hrs followed by two water rinses and finished off with a dip into motor oil. Amazing how clean they came out. No scrubbing at all. All piston ring groves are free of deposits and ready to accept new rings.

Received new battery cables from @Fourrunner. Built very well and extremely heavy duty. Thank you, Mark!
I replaced, what looks to be, the original fusible link.

Um, your photography/organization/tidiness/work space/clean work are making me waste way too much time looking at this, kind sir!
Well done!

Painted the engine today.
Spent too much time removing silicone in place of the valve cover gasket. Please don’t do that.

The block was degreased and I then removed any missed buildup with a wire brush.

It's prepped with tape and compressed air.

Machine shop power honed each cylinder. Well within spec after 300k! Another 300K and then maybe a 0.5 over?

3-angle seats. Full valve job and light decking. Seat guides were perfect.

Made a tool to remove the factory oil pump bushing. Borrowed the idea from @jbpace here

I gotta ask, how do you have so much time to get all this work done? I can hardly make time to wash my rig.

I work an hour or two before work and same after. I have also worked on the 1fz a few times so it's not new to me. Engine is almost fully assembled.

Is there a reason not to paint the head?
The actual head? Or do you mean the valve cover?
The head is aluminum and looks good to me as is. I do have a spare valve cover that I may get powder coated later on. Right now the focus is to get this project completed.
