I have not seen anyone remove the vacuum lines and blue vacuum switching valve associated with the EGR. I did. We'll see if it works!

Flawless. No check engine lights. I’m building an engine for my sister’s 80, it will be getting the same treatment.

I have referenced this thread quite a bit for my build. Thanks for documenting it.

Thanks for making good use of this thread. I’d do nothing different. I have about 20,000 miles on this engine now. It burns zero oil, leaks zero oil, and is very powerful compared to other 1FZ’s I’ve driven. For me, it was worth every penny.

My sister has a ‘95 Land Cruiser that blew a head gasket, and I just finished rebuilding a donor engine for her. We rebuilt the shortblock with Toyota pistons/rings/bearings, but I did everything else the same.

You might consider doing a Cometic head gasket with ARB studs, but I really think the updated Toyota head gasket with new Toyota head bolts will last a very long time.

Time to mate the upper/lower intake. I place the gaskets on the lower intake, placed the two intakes together, and torqued all the bolts/nuts to 15 ft-lb. Intake is now mostly done. I'll handle the rest when I install the engine.

What did you do with the blue connector on the VSV harness? (Since the VSV 90910-12079 is deleted)

I believe I just zip tied it in a secure location and left it disconnected
