Hi all - quick question as I am doing this job now. I am doing each valve one at a time. Some of the lifters will not go back in. This does not make sense to me as I know I haven't mixed them up as I am doing one at a time. Any thoughts? It came out easily enough, but will not go back down. Its not the spring either, since I tried to fit it in without the spring, just to see if it would fit. Would love to know what you did if you ran into this before. I am not sure if they can be super tight/forced or not.

also, old seals are a huge huge huge pain to get out. I'm spending 15-20 min on each one

Thanks.

Some were a tough fit for me too. Use oil, try rotating them lots of ways. Don't force it. Potentially you could freeze them or put them on dry ice.

Thank you! Most seem to slide right in just fine, but one or two was difficult for some reason.

I do have another question...and this has me a bit worried. I am using the air pressure through the spark plug hole method. Got all the way to cylinder 6 and when I popped the spring keepers back in to place on one of the intake valves, something got altered and I have air leaking out through the intake plenum. Like the valve isn't seated properly. There was no air leakage like this until I replaced the seal and installed the spring and keepers back into place. I'm worried something got messed up and I I won't have compression in that cylinder now. I hope that makes sense if anyone has any thoughts.

Piece of loose carbon dropped down from above the valve and got stuck between the valve and valve seat??

Unsure. I thought that, or maybe that the valve rotated and didn't quite seat the same. Spun the valve around and up and down to try to knock anything loose and until it got to a point where I couldnt feel any air leaking out. Not 100% sure if its fully seated, but it does sound and feel much better.
